  3. There are a few people on here who really don't like Ade, aren't there??? <whistle>

To be fair, I haven't seen any comments from Ade himself for the last couple of weeks, so have no idea whether he is tired or why his return from the ACN has been seemingly delayed - but AVB is talking about 'flight connections' which suggests that he may not be coming straight back from South Africa as that would be a direct flight. It could be that he had to return to Togo with the rest of the squad? That would certainly explain the delay and the more complex travel arrangements.

Whatever the story, lets just hope he comes back in one piece as we really need him to be on his game.

I don't know why we have this non event called AFCON,I didn't take one jot of notice of it. I'm not sure if Ade is back in England yet but I wouldn't play him anyway. Give him a week to rest but there again we've won, drawn and lost without him so let's juggle who we have.

Relayer shall i whistle or Wink at you in return? :D.....

Of course I like Ade, i was dissapointed we took an age to sign him but lets be honest before we signed him,im sure many of his current fans slagged the guy off and hes only had one full season with us.

He still has to prove he can perform when signed on a perm deal as before he signed i always felt it be a loan yet his impact was so great he won many of us over.

I wonder if people if Africa took one jot of notice...:emoticon-0112-wonde

We can't afford to rest Ade, I'm not sure what some fans don't get about this. Ade is now the only available striker who has any sort of track record in the premier league (If you ask me it's a good one but some people disagree). We saw against Leeds that Dempsey does not work in this role, and Kane is unproven. If we want Champions League football (something we would have got last year with Ade playing week in week out) then we NEED Ade.

Let's be honest, the ACoN is a bit of a farce generally and this one's worse than most.
    Africa deserves better.

  8. Ha-ha I was being diplomatic - or at least trying to be!!

He is clearly a late and slow starter this season for reasons that we have gone over ad infinitum for the last couple of months, but I do think that he has received some criticism for stuff which (a) no one (at least on here) knows was his fault and (b) there is every indication that he did not influence, namely the delayed transfer.

Bottom line is that we need him to come back in this month and show the sort of form that won us fans over last term. Maybe I am an eternal optimist, but still think he has it in him to get goals and terrorise defences.

Not giving up in him just yet!!!

The attendances in all but the last 2 rounds has been abysmal, even if its local fan financial restriction, the African authorities need to address bums on seats.

The funny thing is that they're going to balls up the Euros by having it all over the place, but that might actually work for it's African equivalent.

Dunno mate, see what you're saying there though, reduce the cost of fan travel, but it seems funny that they all come out of the woodwork for the semi's.

I thought it was a sad day for our great club when Ade was allowed to walk through our front gates and sign for us. I don't have many gripes with Harry Redknapp, but bringing this ego-maniac to our club is certainly one of them. And yes I did say this at the time.

I have never liked his mercenary attitude and I have never really rated him that highly, even after last season when let's be honest here, if he had shifted his backside a bit he would have scored a damn sight more than he did. He has never seemed to me to be the sort of player who will willingly put in a shift and as far as I am concerned, he's been a waste of space all this season.

And yes I know he looked 'awesome' in the Arsenal game, but even that never encouraged me to soften my views on him, as we have all seen a million footballers perform out of their skin against their previous club.

I despised him when he played for other clubs against us and whilst I will never boo him at the Lane, I do think it's a sad state of affairs that we are now in a situation where he returns from his ACON duties when it suits him over when it suits his employers.

Whilst I understand the sentiment of your comment, this is exactly the attitude that will do nothing but harm our chances of Champions League football. You only have to look across London and see what Chelsea fans attitude toward Rafa is doing to them. We need to get behind Ade, he is a player that thrives under support and belief from the people around him. I disagree with your comments about his work rate as well, he puts in far more effort than he is ever credited for, which is why it is no coincidence the people who take a negative view on him, always accuse him of being lazy.

I may eat my words down the line, but Ade has a big part to play for us now, and he needs our support.

My attitude to Ade will not affect our CL prospects one iota because as previously mentioned, I will not boo him or call for his head when I am at the Lane, whereas Chelsea people are loudly calling from the stands for Rafa's head. There's a difference.

I understand he probably needs to feel our support, but in my opinion, he's got off to a bad start on that one already with his mucking the club around over this 'will he go or will he stay' thing on the ACON and now the 'where the hell is he' talk.

  19. To paraphrase Monty Python, what has Adebayor ever done for us - but perhaps more relevantly, what has he ever done to you guys??
This often quoted 'attitude' he is accused of having has never been substantiated for me in his time at Spurs.
Nobody has shown that he caused the delays over the transfer, in fact as I recall it was shown that Citeh were the cause. And if he was such a disruptive influence behind the scenes, then that would be evident in the way the other players interact with him - from what I have seen he is very popular.
Regardless of whether he should have got more - he still managed 17 goals (with 3 legit ruled out) and set up loads.

As FK says, I may also eat my words, but will keep supporting him until I see proof to the contrary.

Adebayor doesnt have a sixth sense so unless fans boo or jeer (which doesnt happen) then all this talk of needing our support is (without intending to cause offence).....complete nonsense.

The spurs team has our support no matter who is picked, the atmposhere at games is the same, so unless Adebayor can focus in on Spurcat at games, read his mind while at the same time controlling the ball then i would suggest its safe for him (or any one of us) to talk negative about Adebayor without ruining our CL ambitions.
