Of course I don't want him to fail, I just want him to select the best player for each position, based on merit.

So is it not right to pick what he thinks is the best team to win a game?

Hobbs is clearly in a different league to Mcshane, so no idea why he's picked him. We are winning but we can still disagree with his decisions.
As the manager, he has the right to pick any team he likes.
As a fan on a message board, I have the right to question his selections.
Bruce is a better judge of a CB than anyone on here. I dont rate Macca but Bruce has given him a chance and he's taken it. When we played Wednesday they roughed us up. Hobbs didnt seem to grasp the mettle, Faye was having some right tussles and for the first time getting dominated a bit. Hobbs, much as i do like him, doesnt get in with the muck and bullets. IMO.
If I think team selections are being made because of family connections, rather than a players ability, then I'll question them.
To be fair, other than making it clear that I though signing Alex was a piss poor idea in the summer, I haven't given either of them much grief.
And I remain of the opinion that it was piss poor idea(not because I think Alex is rubbish, but because I think his relationship with the manager negatively affects team selections). Just my opinion.
