The six weeks coming up to the January window and we were all expecting our Rowland to give GT a little bit of our cash to see if he could strengthen a very weak and ailing squad of players....but as i suspected nothing was forthcoming, so with a few player moving out on loan i suspect GT will have another dip into the loan market and see if he can fair a bit better than his disastrous attempt at the start of the season....but all i can see as we enter this last quarter of the season is falling attendances resulting in a loss of revenue....as like any business you have to spend a little on investment to reap the rewards later, but all i can see here is root one unattractive football and hanging on by our finger nails!! :emoticon-0101-sadsm
 
GT and the @Shrewsweb Twitter has used the phrase 'substational offers' were made and accepted, it appears that the stumbling block came after that point. One factor seems to be the selling/loaning club not getting their player in on time and the other is the player not wanting to come here.
 
We've had 30 days beforehand to get deals done and dusted. There's no reason why players can't be scouted, a fee discussed, personal terms discussed and a medical undertaken before January, thus allowing the deal to be completed on the first of January.
 
If the management ever really wanted anybody (?), then it's a c**k up! If they didn't then it's same old, same old.

There was a time when we were the longest serving members of the third tier of English football (before a brief trip to higher climes); maybe we should think about being long serving members of the fourth tier (owned by the fans) OR we could hope that things turn(er) out ok and we survive to fight again.
I am playing devil's advocate in the interests of debate. However, as a staunch life long fan I will put up with this for a while longer.....but when I start drawing my pension I may have to become an internet fan.......unless we play attractive footy.....that's what's missing!
 
......oh! and one big gripe.......why is the BBC always putting Telford on t'interweb? They say it's 'contractual', well change it! We can't get FM radio much outside the county borders!

Why should I listen to Telford going down when I could listen to STFC........

I am with you on this - the club talk a good game but have sadly failed to deliver this season - I, like many fans, commit a substantial amount of time and money to watching Town (with a 160 mile round trip to watch each home game in my case) and I am seriously thinking about not renewing my season ticket and going to much fewer games next year. Who wants to support a side with no ambition who win one game every month and have not replaced their best striker for nine months and who make about two chances (if that) every game?
 
Health and wealth permitting, I will always be there and have been thick and thin for 60 years (mostly thin but the thick was worth waiting for). Apart from the opening phrase, there is no excuse for a true supporter (discuss).

I will always go when I can, but I think you have to factor money and location into the equation as well. If/when I go to Uni in around 18 months' time, I'll have very little money to be able to afford train journeys across the country and increasingly expensive tickets to go the game. Hopefully I won't actually go to Uni, my intention is to get a higher apprenticeship and thus get paid for a degree qualification with a guaranteed job at the end of it, but the point remains that there are other factors too which can influence decisions. However, for some strange reason, we love the club and so will prioritize it.

Lenny is starting out, relatively; I've been a fan for over 50 years......but we all feel the same.
What I would give for a 4-3 victory over Posh or Walsall on a cold wet day by the river with the copper (not steward) telling us to stop swearing (I still swear!!). It's not nostalgia but this season there just seems less exciting matches, less characters and less hwl or craic somehow. Perhaps we are all suffering from the withdrawal symptoms of last season's triumph. Perhaps this is just one of those quiet years that drifts in and out of ones life without much to remember......apart from a few good pints and visiting grounds one hasn't been to before.

Decided that 4.5 hours driving was a bit much today; hope I don't regret it.

"maybe we should think about being long serving members of the fourth tier (owned by the fans)" Why should we be long serving members of the fourth tier owned by the fans?,going in that direction with our fan base and involvement should see us as a stable Championship club, with all moneys coming in and going straight to team building and not directors wages and expenses!!...and if we are not happy with the way the club as been run at the end of the season we can vote in a new board ! ...at the moment we can whinge and moan all we want, it aint going to influence any decisions Rowland makes....

Away games have been, on the whole, pretty dire this season. I was fortunate that my trip to Coventry was rewarded, but I am finding it much harder to make the effort for away games this year than I did last year after some diabolical performances. Home games, though, are absolutely imperative.

I do not think we want to get into the juvenile discussion of 'I am a better supporter than you because I go to every game' (save that for Blue and Amber!) We all love the club and support it in the way we think fit. My point really is that the management of the club have not acted upon their fine talk about establishing us as a League 1 side and the loan player situation in particular has been little better than a complete shambles this season.
 
It's KDS and I am not saying that I am a better supporter. I am simply saying that as long as health and wealth permit, it would be impossible for me not to actively support Shrewsbury and I would hope others feel the same.
 
may i throw my tuppence in from deepest devon. i think roland and graham are a breed apart, neither likes to see town's money spent. gt follows the hereford school of managership, ie loan loan loan. roland is happy with this, as long as town stay up. grahams pre christmas loans were an absolute showers. it is to be hoped thursday onwards may bring more success.

with 3 points at preston and 3 more hopefully on saturday, do we need anyone. er yes we need 2 strikers capable of scoring goals. remember the blades have taken 2 points in 15. i spy a goalfest if we had any strikers sparking.

the next £200k may be spent in 4 years time. i give you grant holt!
 
If you throw a dice it might come up with a six, not all loanees work out yet Grandison is a good exsmple of it happening.

If we ain't got enough strikers then play 451 with attack minded players on there.

The supporter owned Chester City appear to be in trouble, experiencing substantial losses in the BSN.
 
The "substantial" losses are only amounting to just a mere £75,000 because of increased staffing and player costs !!, most teams in all divisions would be well happy just to have lost that amount and to be running away with the league by 10 pts, plus the fact they have been champions every year since the went bankrupt, its a pittance, but fair play to the Chester fans's they are share holders and they are questioning the reason why !!...and if they are not happy and feel their appointed board is under performing they can just vote to boot them out at the next AGM ...plus the fact that wasn't mentioned is that they have a community trust of £35.000 ....all we get is a dead January window with no explanation!!
