I have to start by saying that sunderland were rubbish,one of the worst teams ive seen this season,playing at home and they parker the bus for Long periods and had one decent spell in the second half. Credit must go to titus bra ble for an amazing block to save them at the death! Other than that i thought we played well without really having a cutting Edge up front. Itay tried hard but it never happened for him. Sunderland played like the away team and i found that a little bit emmbarassing for the home team,the boo's at the end suggest im right ! We would all have taken a point before the game so i guess its not so bad in that respect but i do feel dissapointed that we only managed a draw considering the amount of ball we had, sunderland have fluked 2 points against us this season ...a poor team that offer nothing to the premier league other than a Long journey for travelling jacks,they should be better than that with the massive support they have,o'neil has lost his touch. Solid once again,just looking like he owns the park when he plays These days,a great recovery in form from early season. Chico. 7. Same as ash , superb at the back and knows the dark arts of defending very well! Sloss the game when needed by hook or by crook! I dont like the theatrics but in fairness he has cut alot of that out of his game,worth noting that mclean had a card for diving against him! Davies. 8. Ran his bollocks off for 90 mins ! Text book game for a modern full back, is fast turning into a future star of the prem league, the vultures Will be circling for him in the summer if he maintains this kind of form. Dyer. 7. A much better display from him tonight, was still a bit ropey at times and some of his touched and shots let him down big time , had quite a few hospital balls from JDG which didnt help his flow. Britton. 8. He is so good i just dont know what Else to say about him, i Think laudrup knows he is a top top player and im sure most of his fellow prem opponents Think the same..Roy hodgson hang your head in shame! JDG. 7. Stræy showing,looked Busy and is getting better at closing the spaces down,give some horrible passes though and if i was on the end of some of them id be having a serious Word! Dyer got caught a few times because he underhit passes. Pablo. 7 quiet game but i can see what he tries to do with the ball,has amazing vision but sometimes plays the right pass at the wrong time and the wrong pass at the right time !! Has not recaptured his fine form since coming back,slow burner. Michu. 7. Quiet game but helped the team and worked hard,set up dyer and DG with 2 sitters. I prefer him in midfield i Think he offera alot more overall from There. Itay. 6. I so want this boy to Get a goal! I Think if he could just Get one he may relax a bit in front of goal and start to score more often. At the moment i Think he takes too much time to Get his shots off and he is also a bit shot shy, tries hard ..we all love a trier dont we! Glad he is only on Loan though, credit to him for trying hard if the goals Arnt coming he cant do no more than that can he Subs . Cant be added to mention them really but ki and DG were ok i guess! A typical 7/10 performance. Not great Not bad Just ok. Thoughts ?
I have to add that the Sun newspaper reckons this was a poor quality game ??? i didnt think that from our point of view, we lacked a bit in front of goal but thats about it,from a sunderland point of view it was poor but i wouldnt say we were ..strange take on things from the Sun.
Yep, pretty fair. Must say Ash is looking the dogs bo11ocks. We played some lovely stuff first half, but went back into our shell second half and really never threatened until the closing stages. Would have taken a point before the game but as said, I think it's two points dropped. Sunderland were poor and there for the taking, oh I'm frustrated tonight!!
Just feel we lack that clinical edge sometimes that some other top sides have - if one of the top 4/6 teams had been playing Sunderland tonight they would have finished the off during the totally dominant periods that we had in the first half. We have to learn to be ruthless and go for the jugular when we are on top and kill sides off. Guess this shows how the team have progressed when we are disappointed in only coming away with a point from Sunderland. swansBoyo

You have to congratulate Sunderlands defense though, it looked pretty hard to break down. Especially in the first half when they were basically playing with 11 men behind the ball (which I agree with is pretty poor from a home side). But a part from the last attempt I didn't think that Swansea's chances were that clear cut. So I'm not that disappointed, all though 3 points would've been nice.
You must congratulate the defence,midfield and attsck for a great defensive performance..in their own area !! Sunderlands team cost **** loads more than ours yet they play that way against lowely swansea! i can understand their fans booing the team off
I noticed Danny Graham had a nice welcome up there tonight !!... Doesnt look like he is going to be a Mackem any time soon!
Hi Guys As a Sunderland fan at the game that is the worst performance from us this season so a point is all we deserved i like yourstyle of football although i didn,t think you put enough balls in the box to troubles us Well done for getting to the Cup Final
cant understand what is going on with the Mackems, there was always a full house there but 35,000 for them could be better. I think Martin o neil has taken the team as far as possible and apart from fletcher i think the whole playing squad needs an overhaul. As you say,you played bad and still got a point and we are very close in the league,makes me wonder about what the real standard is in the premier league,so many teams blow hot and cold. The Mackems need a big change at the club imo, i dont see how they have preogressed from their last few managers,they all seem to just throw a bit of money at it and end up with the same results. Anyway im dissapointed with a draw after seeing the game,but before hand a point would have been very welcome
I'll 2nd mitchthemakem's comments, we were very poor this evening, I suppose my only positive is we defended decently! I enjoyed watching you guys in possession and as you say you lacked a cutting edge upfront. We are better than that and I'm sure we will be when we play Reading on Saturday. We have been nothing but courteous to you's tonight but I think there's no need for that comment. You have only ever had 1 and a half seasons in the top flight, in your history. A reality check might be needed? Again though, yous play really good football and I enjoy watching you. For as bad as we were, you had no cutting edge up front yourself mate.
I meant in the context of this season not overall! As ive said elsewhere in the thread sunderland for such a massive club Are treading water, they should be much better than this, i thought you were poor in the last 3 games also irrelvent of how Long we Will stay in the prem league There is no point in sti kong your head in the sand and thinking things Are great! You should be top 6 for the size of your club
Ok fella Nobody is thinking we are doing great though and we know that the club should have pushed on more then it has, MoN is doing it slowly though and bit by bit, he is slowly starting to put the team he wants together (Fletcher, Johnson etc) I guess as fans we just have to put our trust in the manager and keep the faith. Im not sure if MON is the cure or the problem,of course you know the team better than me but i Think he is limited in what he can bring to a big club,time Will tell i guess but i Think There is a reason why he never quite got a top 4 job when he was hot property. I havenothing against the mackems quite the Opposite actually, while every season for the swans in the prem league isa bonus sunderland with its size should be playing better football and pushing for top 6 everyseason, There has been investment in the club and everything is in place apart from the product on the field, your wagebill is probably double ours but i have not once seen that difference between the players. The swans have had 4 different managers in 6 yrs so you have to Ask how Long does it take to implement the systems you want to play? I dont MON drastically different from Bruce so its not like you need to start from scratch. Anyway,good luck to you and i hope you go on to have a fra kong season...try not to finish above us though!
Norway Jack. I agree with you, I thought we were terrible last night. We blow hot and cold, but much more cold. I don't think we have progressed much if any tbh MON ain't our answer imo, we need to adopt a much more attacking style and stop been negative.I thought you guys knocked it round lovely 1st hslf, took the game to us snd really should of won the game overall.
