We deserved nothing from that game. Sheffield Wed had more attacking intent throughout. We started passing the ball back to Hamer from the halfway line with half hour to go. Was that tactics or tiredness? Either way it is down to CP either to change tactics or bring on subs.
Actually gutted, it'll make wednesday think they played like Barca, they are arrogant and just I hate them with a passion, we all love our club but at least we're reasonable and don't actually believe we are the best club in the history of football....Wednesday are a small club and so are we, they are not massive and I hate them argggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
E-mail from the guy who texted before. Deserved nothing, got nothing. They were up for it and we weren't. Why? No point in trading punches with a side like this, you're gonna lose every time, you gotta play clever, play it short, play it along the floor. Lita came on and it was if we'd never seen him before, as if it was a shock. FFS, how long was he down here? Two tired CBs were never gonna hold him. Twenty odd thousand people could see what was going to happen, but not our management team. Rabbits caught in headlights. So disappointed, and in front of a big crowd again, why do we freeze every time? Curry, couple of pints, forget, move on.
In all honesty we didn't deserve anything from that match and that's what we got...... why?...... Chris Powell to be honest, we had some very tired players at 75 mins+ but Chris would not make any substitutions.... the Massive goals were coming from when Lita came on but we did nothing about it? We need a new Assistant Manager because Alex Dyer is clearly not up to the job of telling Chris the errors he is making...... Chris and Alex NEVER talk during the game...... somebody needs to tell Chris that this refusal to use subs is just WRONG!
Nothing new here. Frail midfield that ran out of steam and no-one on the bench to add a bit of steel. Only option was Dervite when we were still ahead and he is not really a midfielder. Fuller and Harriott should have come on, especially once the Massive equalised. Same solutions needed as all season. Sign a defensive midfielder and CP to learn how to use subs. The truth is that, with the possible exceptions of Cardiff and Leicester (and we have beaten both of those), all the teams in this division are much of a muchness and all results are a toss-up, with home advantage counting for little except for four clubs. Not a big fan of Green, but if I were him I would have thought CP was taking the piss bringing him on with three minutes to go.
Well that buggered up my saturday and no mistake. Really fancied us for three points today, but it sounds as if had we held on for 1-0 it would have flattered us. Powell is definately on a learning curve, but some of the lessons seem to be taking an awfully long time to sink in. Wretched result, and in front of a big crowd too.
I am not a massive enthusiasts for substitutions generally. If the players are that much better they should be starting, and it can take them 15 minutes to really get into the pace and rhythm of the game, by which time their team may have suffered further. I can see when managers are reluctant to use them. They can disrupt things. But there are special reasons for CP to use them every match: We have no midfielders who are natural defenders. Jackson is not really fit, and Stephens and Pritchard are not hard men. They use so much energy defending and attacking that they run out of steam. In the absence of two all-round midfielders on the bench to replace them we should bring on Dervite to just head and kick the ball away and an attacking midfielder (Green or Harriott) to compensate. Kermorgant gets battered every game. He needs to be subbed and we have the right sub in Fuller, who also should not be expected to play 90 minutes. If we leave Kermorgant on to get battered for 90 mins every match he won't last the season. Of course if your team is on fire and adrenalin is high then no changes are necessary, but how often has that happened? Most matches this season have been hand-to-hand street fighting rather than glorious cavalry charges.
I can take getting beat. We are still three places above where I forecast we would end the season so I have no complaints about our points haul. But I just wish we would get beat at least trying to play football on grass (or mud) and not in the sky. And the Good Doctor's pigheadedness with subs in getting boring.
2 things were most disappointing, obviously our lack of substitutions, and the other thing was how often we were muscled off the ball. The Doctor was clearly thinking of bringing on Dervite with the score at 1-0, but maybe didn't have the courage of his convictions. For the last half hour I was hoping Fuller would come on and cause their big defenders a few problems with the ball at his feet. He's a player who can cope with tight marking but isn't being used. I said at 1-0 that we needed another goal because Wedsnesday would score and Fuller seemed the most likely player to get it. A horrible game to lose.
Back from the game, anyone who knows me knows I have little ideas on tactics or formations. I thought the first half was best forgotten, both teams reminded me of my old school days of kick & rush, we hit the bar, they missed an empty goal, that sums up the first 45 minutes. Second half totally different, our early goal well taken nice build up. There after we seemed to be sitting back & trying to hit them on the break. To be fair it very nearly worked as well. Then just as I was thinking, if we played a half decent team we would be punished with this tactic, they make a sub & we are punished. Normally I would at that point cry for a substitution. However who to sub & for whom. If it was just tired legs JJ would be out the game after the first half. I don't know the answer, which is why I am a fan getting frustrated at our apparent lack of activity/variation both on the pitch & in the transfer market while Sir Chris sits in the Hot Seat, which may start to warm & get uncomfortable if we have too many more disappointing results like this. I hope that's not the case.
Late reply but I've only been able to get to a handful of games this season and imo he's always had a good game so I include him + the fact i have a soft spot for Rangers and he used to play for them. It's all favourtism you see
I can't believe the crap people are talking first half nothing between us second half we scored an excellent team goal should of had more sat back granted then got punished in last 10. Wednesday deserved it ? ? ? You gotta be joking they were piss poor hoof ball specialists . Wag staff was excellent yet cos everyone seems to hate Waggy no praise on here for him. We were guilty of sitting back not closing them down... Waggy the exception unlucky to lose and suddenly we were crap...Nonsense
