Just how much is bruce going to get in the summer?
Sunderland manager Steve Bruce insists he will not be demanding megabucks from the club's owner to improve his squad for next season.
Bruce has invested heavily in his squad during his two years at the Stadium of Light, but has seen injuries disrupt his plans in the second half of this term.
The Black Cats will continue their limp towards the Premier League finishing line against relegation-threatened Wolves on Saturday with injuries still decimating the squad and underlining the need for reinforcements.
The club face starting next season without the likes of Craig Gordon, Michael Turner, David Meyler and Fraizer Campbell, and John Mensah, Nedum Onuoha and Danny Welbeck are still to learn whether or not their loan deals will develop into anything more permanent.
Unfair
And Bruce said: "It would be unfair of me to go to the owner and say, 'Right, I need nine players and I need another ã100million'. It's not as easy as that.
"We have got to look at the situation very, very carefully and closely and to be fair, that's what you are paid your money for.
"It's difficult, but we will have to try to find a solution."
Meanwhile, Bruce has praised young midfielder Jack Colback for grasping his opportunity in the absence of more experienced figures in recent weeks.
He added: "In adversity, there is always something that comes and catches your eye, and certainly Jack is the shining example of that.
"He has proved to me that he can be part of the squad, he can play in the Premier League, and he has got a big part to play for us, so fair play to him."
