And with good reason, different manager, team, style...for those that have changed their opinion. He got away with clumsy control with more space last year, this year in more compact areas he loses it more.
I haven't changed my opinion,he's over for me and I didn't want him back. He would not get into the Man City team now and I'm not sure who else. I hope we do well without him to convince AVB that we don't need him and to find another two strikers.
Haven't changed my opinion, never did rate him, even when he was at the goon's,prefer JD to him,but we need a 20 goals a season type player, and both aren't
Opinions are what keeps this board ticking over, but I wonder whether you guys thought the same last year - before his delayed start to this season and subsequent injury and suspension - when he scored 17, had 3 other perfectly good goals disallowed and had the highest assist stats in the PL........ All that adds up to the 20 goal a year mythical striker everyone is looking for. At the moment, I am more hoping that he just returns from the ACN in one piece and with his confidence restored. Prefer to take that view of a current player whose last full season with us was excellent. If there are probs on his return then maybe that would be the better time to start the 'out' campaign...........
Well said. I still think if he's given a proper chance to play up top on his own he can return to form and I don't see why he and Defoe can't share the lone striker role until the end of the season.
I'd like to know why people think because someone did something last year that means every year will be the same. Its like people saying Hudd was great when we finished 4th...and?? that was then, things are different now.
Simply because players don't lose all their abilities over night. It seems reasonable to expect some good form from Ade during the course of this season especially when we have already glimpsed it against Arsenal.
Quite right Spurf, but what they can/do lose is, interest, better team-mates, managers who thought more of them, style of play, confidence, etc, etc, there's a host of reasons why players don't replicate previous form. I'd expect someone of your knowledge to be aware of that. We've seen a headless chicken against his old club.
No need to be patronising notso you asked why I gave you an answer. There are no guarantees but it is equally possible that due to his limited playing time this season people are jumping to judgement too quickly.
Has he scored at AFCON yet? I'll look see. That done I see he hasn't played yet but I'll be watching.
Not dismissing that either mate, and yes he is a player capable of good things, but lots more besides technical ability needs to be right before that happens, and thats how I see this season, so much has changed...including him! Why isn't Modric ripping up La Liga, he played well for two years here! It just doesn't follow, and before you say it, Ade may aswell be in a new team! Patronising? I thought I was complimenting!
This. If we can progress in the FA Cup and Europa League, then we'll have a lot of fixtures in short periods of time. Defoe and Adebayor don't seem to have struck up any sort of understanding, so using one of them and benching the other is the sensible option.
Enough already! ****ing whistling rufus. Unless we sign a serious striker Ade is the best we have so he had better do something when he returns.
If you've had enough, then don't reply to me in the first place, your mood is much better when you don't these days.
Looks like you'll be watching by yourself TMT as there's only about 12 people in the stadium. Zokora is also playing in this game.
