Bit of stereotyping going on here, guys.
(And I'm not an only child, btw.)

Majority of it is true with regards to only children ( at least the ones I have come across in coaching), as with anything there are always exceptions, depends a lot on the parents though.

We all speak as we find, of course. I just think it's a bit of an unfair generalization.

As Gerrez said, just my experiences but I do know good kids who are only children, but their parents are spot on with not giving in to all of the wants.

Actually supposed to start back with the academy tomorrow but it is 8 degrees out so ya, it got cancelled. lol. Kids can't handle the cold too well!

As I was an only child, I'll put a different perspective on it for you. It's not the kids themselves. Well before they came across you they had already learnt to join in with others. They therefore learn their socialisation skills 'on the street' so to speak.

However, if lone children do have parents who always give-in THEN you have a problem on your hands. Blame the parents - not the kids!

Agreed Dave. Kids are sponges, monkey see-monkey do, etc. A lot of the problem ones I deal with the parents ( fresh prince pun) just don't understand why he is trouble, he is this that at home, etc.

I think without the street culture in recent generations it may have got worse due to video games, phones, computers, etc instead of going out to the street to see friends.

Still, parents is that key word. Psychology 101 for the night it seems! <laugh>

In my various studies I have looked at some major elements of Psychology - Management, Group Dynamics, Buying Behaviour, Learning, etc. etc. Some of these elements I have studied in fairly great detail. However, now that I have retired I'm beginning to believe that the vast majority of that study was a waste of time. That along with Sociology its really just a poor attempt to describe behaviour by adding labels with little understanding.

Thanks saint. Nice to have an intelligent, reasoned viewpoint on here. It's the way you're brought up. Not whether you have siblings or not.
