So the biggest un-kept secret it football has finally been told.

Daglish is the new manager of liverpool.

He's got a team full of talent and goals, but the question is..

Can he lead them to break into the top four again.

Well judging on recent form, reckon he's got a chance...

Kenny Dalglish has signed a new three-year contract as Liverpool manager.

The Scot has been rewarded with an extended deal having taken over in January in a caretaker role after Roy Hodgson was sacked in January.

"I'm obviously delighted to be given the opportunity," Dalglish told the Liverpool website.

"When we came back in January there were no promises as to what to expect, so for me it was an ideal opportunity to prove I had something to offer."

The former Scotland striker has returned for a second stint in charge of the club he famously graced as a player in the 1970s and 80s.

He has overseen a dramatic improvement in results, with the Merseysiders climbing to fifth in the Premier League from mid-table mediocrity having strung together some impressive performances.

Dalglish oversaw the signings of the brilliant Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez and former Newcastle striker Andy Carroll, as well as the sale of Fernando Torres to Chelsea.

Liverpool have been transformed from under-achievers into a club seemingly set for next season's Europa League - and with a fighting chance of being a force in the 2011-2012 Premier League season.

Negotiations with Dalglish had been ongoing for several weeks with the final details made public on Thursday.

Coach Steve Clarke, who also arrived in January, has signed a three-year contract as well.

John Henry, whose US-based Fenway Sports Group owns Liverpool, had been discussing terms with Dalglish in recent weeks and said there was no-one else they wanted for the job.

"Kenny is a legendary Liverpool figure both as a supremely gifted footballer and successful manager," Henry said in a statement.

"Since returning in January he has shown extraordinary leadership and the ability to bring the best out of so many people associated with the club.

"It was obvious to us very early on that the atmosphere surrounding the club had been transformed by his presence. No-one else could have produced such a response."

The club's director of football Damien Comolli said: "Kenny turned things around very quickly, with the help of Steve Clarke. For us, it was a no brainer.

"He hit the ground running from day one knowing what he wanted to do because he knew the boys anyway, especially the key players like Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher, and knew the young players in the Academy."

He has definately got a young team loaded with talent as well, I would expect with a few handy signings in the summer that the scousers would crack the top 4 again and possible at the expense of the Gunners

I think Chelsea are there to be shot at, City are there forever now, or at least till the sheiks **** off.

United? Biggest club in the world (arguably), will always be there.

Arsenal will sell Fabregas, and realise they are a better team for not depending on him (United the other week a prime example), they won't be budged.

Chelsea have a few players getting on, and despite there undoubted quality, there's summat amiss.

A buoyant Liverpool with a quality centre back signing could easily topple Chelsea.

Chuffed for him and certainly the right man for the job. Liverpool have had a remarkable season since Kenny took over and with the same players that Roy Hodgeson had. It says something about the players if they could not produce perfomances for Roy in the same way they have for Kenny.

That would suggest it was a tactics and team selection problem under Roy <whistle>
