Looks like Haidara IS interested in a move to the Toon.....

Nancy defender Massadio Haidara admits a move to England would be his preferred choice in January, with Newcastle believed to have tabled a bid.

Sky Sports revealed on Tuesday that Alan Pardew had turned his attention to the France U21 international.

It is not the first time Haidara has drawn admiring glances from England, with Aston Villa understood to have made a move last summer.

They were unsuccessful in their efforts to land the 20-year-old, but Newcastle hold plenty of appeal to the youngster and he would welcome the opportunity to test himself in the Premier League.

Haidara told RMC: "Newcastle do appeal to me, but everyone has to agree.

"I would be very happy to play there. My preference is England. It is the league which attracts me the most and would suit my game the best.

"A move to Roma? They are a good team, so I would be happy to play there.

"I do not plan on leaving for the sake of it, though. I will leave if there is a good proposition for me and the club."

.

Twitter is saying we've had a bid accepted.

Now to wait patiently for QPR to come in and bid 10mil for him and offer 120k a week

Going to agree with katmandu on this one. Nice and all to sign a player who could develop but it isn't actually helping our team any is it. This is the kind of signing you make when you're doing well in the league and consolidating not one when you've sold your top scorer and your captain/best cb wants out.

On a side note I generally don't believe any interview if they've been translated as the literal translation doesn't normally hold true. See HBA's quotes for an example.

If this is in any instead of the other signings we need, then I agree it is mad. If it is something we would have done even if all our targets immeidately signed, then it is a good move to secure a useful player for the future. The fact that the link arose about the same time a Remy was hijacked doesn't mean the two are connected.

As MattNUFC suggested to me, he may help the first team if we push Santon up and have an actual LB at LB... Would be interesting. Still wishing on a CB though!

I agree, however we all know that medieval Argentinian will get a place on the team sheet even if he isn't in the dressing room.

I'm all for a left footed left back as people know. We must get a striker and centre back of course. Santon needs competition and is really a right back. The more the merrier basically. If Roma are interested, Newcastle or Rome? Its a tough one.....................

Forget competition for place we don't bother with that
