Reports in Italy are claiming that Newcastle United have made an offer in the region of €3million (£2.5m) for Nancy left-back Massadio Haidara. FIFA agent Oscar Damiani, who acts as an intermediary for Nancy, said: "It is likely that he will eventually go to England. The cost is still around €4-5m (£3-3.4m)."

this was taken from SSN.

Anyone got a clue who he is?

Never heard of him myself....

We've been linked with this lad for a while now. I'd like a left footed left back to give us extra options but I'm concerned with the lack of centre back links. Bar Tomkins we've heard little this window. As I said on another thread I think Ashley might look and think "Alan me old mucker, you persuaded me to give Saylor first team money and now you want another centre half on first team wages? Feck off"

If Santon did go we should get £10m for the lad at least.
We should then go out and sign Erik Pieters and use the spare cash to take on board Douglas and there we have it.
A quality back 4 (assuming Colo stays)

It's pointles from our perspective if you ask me we will simply sell Santon for 10 million and get a replacement for 5 and thats all. The fact is we are actually making our side weaker every window now. We did in the summer and thus far it looks the same this window.

Do you know sometimes I think Ashley wanted this so he can sell them all and they will not only be happy to leave but he can also manipulate the transfer into the old we tried but at the end of the day the player wanted to leave.

Newcastle target Massadio Haidara says he wants to join Roma rather than head to St James' Park.

The Nancy full-back has been linked with a switch to Newcastle, where he would join the growing French contingent under Alan Pardew.

But the 20-year-old says he would rather move to Serie A and he sees his future in Italy.

"I would prefer to move to Roma as I like the Italian league more," Haidara told tuttomercatoweb.com.

"Newcastle are a good team but I want to play in Italy. My agent has spoken to both teams, but I want to go to Italy."

@SkySportsNews: Sky Sources: Newcastle have made a bid for Nancy defender Massadio Haidara. More on #SSN

@paulfraserecho: Hearing #nufc bid for Nancy's Massadio Haidara is right. 19yo left back. another player with great potential. Need a proven striker tho.

I see this!!! a nice little pissy buy paper over the cracks o!! it doesn't fool me it I just full expect Santon to be next to go.

I mean WOW we fail to by Remy so we try and sign a green player for the future whilst in a relegation battle.

FFS

SSN saying we have made a bid for this guy. Don't know that much about him, but doubt he is a purple signing.
Also if he has said he wants to go to Italy and doesn't really want to play for us, it's likely this will go nowhere or we get nothing better than we already have.
I truly hope this is not just more "evidence" for the Board to throw around, when they do the, look at how many we tried to sign speech, or we said we would sign two or three and we have, we just didn't say how good those two or three would be !
