Had Jol had some balls to drop Ruiz or Berba last Sat this lad should have been given a chance. At least he would run more than both of them.
Give it a rest. Berbs and Ruiz are our best chance of winning games, and they can't do that if they're on the bench. So what do we think to this M'Villa fella then? I've not seen much of him but he looks like a great player, the disciplinary issues concern me though. I think I might prefer Huddlestone.
Nobody said any different, see my comment to another post. And I would love to see them both playing to their best but against Blackpool and Wigan they were poor.
I'm not sure it's entirely fair to group Ruiz in with Berbatov. In both those games Ruiz very nearly won us the game at the death, whereas Berbatov did absolutely nothing. And Ruiz did plenty of running and trying against Wigan, but he was playing out of position and our issues were larger than him. Berbatov needs to start putting some effort in, or our season really is in trouble.
From what I can gather he'd be very good Bidley and much the better buy than Huddlestone given the respective price tags of £8m and £7m. Wouldn't be bothered that he can be a bit 'naughty'. The only thing is, if we buy him we still need another, more defensive midfielder - but that's what I was advocating anyway in they 'Schizophrenia Midfield' thread.
I daresay you probably know more than I do about the subject. I can't help but think M'Villa's destined for bigger clubs than us though. Still, him and Boateng would be good business, IMO.
I was going on what my son told me about him Bidley. He's been raving about him for the last couple of weeks but I only made the initial post when we were linked to M'Vila in the papers. I agree him and Boateng would be just terrific.
So, Liverpoool have found a legitimate way of 'tapping' up a player! Hadn't realised that he was valued at £4m+ which may be why we haven't chased too hard.
Seems that there is a lot of excitment within the QPR camp this evening, many fans think that Harry has captured MVilla, 8mil ?
And apparently Loic Remy as well - busting their wage bill on the way "It is understood Rangers offered double Newcastle’s wages to put together an £80,000-a-week package for the striker who was Alan Pardew’s number one target following the sale of Demba Ba to Chelsea. Newcastle United had agreed to meet Marseille’s £8million valuation of the France international and he held talks with Newcastle manager Pardew and the club director Derek Llambias. After news of the deal was leaked by Marseille president Vincent Labrune over the weekend, QPR tabled their bid to the French club and they met Remy in London on Monday afternoon. Remy had refused to talk to QPR last week but after Rangers owner Tony Fernandes matched Marseille’s valuation, the west London club were given official permission to negotiate a deal with the player who has played 17 times for France. And former Newcastle and QPR midfielder Joey Barton revealed Remy had had a change of heart. He tweeted: 'Just heard from a magician that Loic Remy has signed for QPR. Not sure what happened at Newcastle Llambias again?’" The full story about that and the rumours abot M'Vila are in this link - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2262358/Loic-Remy-join-QPR-Newcastle-deal-hijacked.html#ixzz2HzijobWB
Idiotic decision from them. If they go down, with the wage bill they have, it will cripple them. Can't see Fernandes sticking around for too much longer if they're plying their trade in the Championship.
Are we going to sign anybody that we can use immediately?? Sun is reporting us to want to sign right-back John Stones from Barnsley @ £1.8m. One for the future I suppose. It would be good to have him during the cup break to gel with the team as will avoid stupid excuses that he didn't have time to train with the team!! For some reason I don't feel very positive for tonight!
If QPR are paying that much in wages to Remy and possibly M'Vila, then surely that goes against what Harry was saying when he took over about overpaid players? I imagine both would have a relegation release clause in their contract though. Well **** me, what a surprise!
Lol, this is getting silly now. Southampton have had a bid accepted for Forren and he's apparently off to the south coast to agree terms.
Good question Madness. That should be (or at least should have been) a key part of our plan and as Jol said, the January window is not the best to purchase in. Signings for the future ought to be left for the summer. And anyway Barnsley have apparently turned down our offer for Stones. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2262429/Fulham-1-5m-bid-Barnsleys-Stones-rejected-Southampton-Wigan-lurk.html
And reading Bidley's comment above on Forren (for £3.5m? which does not sound a lot for young defender) I am more puzzled than ever. Contract negotiations with key players (old but key) are stalled. Teams and players are turning us down left, right and centre... Unless they come up with something spectacular to strengthen the teams and similar performances continue I can see the booing continuing every week either people like it or not!
Who shall we trust on transfer rumours? Most accurate are Guardian and Independent with 44.4% and 42.1% respectively. Any news on them recently??
