Reports have just begun circulating in France that Newcastle have signed Loic Remy from Marseille for a fee of 10.5 million euros.
BeIN Sport claim agreement on the transfer fee was reached late on Saturday night with Newcastle eager to replace Demba Ba who moved to Chelsea at the beginning of the transfer window.
Remy had been included in the Marseille squad for the Ligue 1 clash with Sochaux but is now expected to head to Newcastle to discuss personal terms.
Following the draw with Norwich on Saturday, Alan Pardew refused to reveal whether Remy was on his way to the Toon but did say the French striker would not be the only signing this January.
Pardew: “We’re pursuing not just one player but three or four and they all seem to be warming up a bit.”
Joey Barton has also confirmed the transfer on his Twitter feed.

The annoying thing is how much have we really saved signing debuchy and remy now instead signing them last summer.
How much higher up the table would we be, how many players would be injured not having to play so many games and would we have done any better in the cup games?!
Further still, if all of the above, would Ba have been so quick to jump ship?!
Don't get me wrong im delighted, but seriously for the sake of a 2-3mil (that could have been recouperated in say further rounds of carling/FA cup or sell out attendances). I hope Ashley learns from this.

Why have you got benny and Remy on the wrong sides mate - for me we need to get back to playing people with left feet on the left and right on the right. All these fancy formations etc are a load of bollocks unles your Real Madrid or Barcelaona in my opinion. We are not good enough to piss fat about.

i tell you what though if we do go down and we get these 3 ro 4 players then all the manager of other clubs will be like a kid at Christmas in the summer.
