Tbh he doesn't really fit into our current system. As much as I like him, I thinks it's time to give someone else a go up to (that isn't Simpson)
Koren certainly wasn't the worst player out there tonight. The technique for his headed goal was amazing as well. We shouldn't drop him. To be fair, I've only seen one post slating him tonight and it was obviously some overreacting childish moron so I think we can let that slide. A few people are going to feel very silly reading some of these threads back tomorrow.
Agreed on that, two games he has been through and missed chance a striker would of scored, it just shows how desperate we are for a striker. If we don't get one and don't win promotion we only have ourselves to blame. Its so frustrating if you think about how many goals we would of scored with a proper striker.
I really like Koren but he was poor today. His goal was exceptional but the missed one-on-one was really embarrassing. Why is it that with our players if you give them too much time they always do ****e? It's been like that for 15 odd years I swear. You look at their lad, he just glides past the keeper and knocks it in. RoKo slowly approaches the keeper and then passes it straight to him. Really was shocking, get him back in the midfield.
Could be that Bruce might have to try another system that suits him better or maybe leave out Evans and pull him back a bit. I thought Meyler was the standout today, put himself about and even got a decent cross in for a big lad. Great signing. Would have him and Roko pencilled in in the midfield come rain or shine.
Think that's harsh on Koren mising the one on one... It was a very poor finish, agreed, but I can't see our "out and out" strikers making that run in the first place. It's frustrating and we obviously need a striker but for the goals Koren can score from range at any given moment, we need to keep him in the team if possible. Interesting that some people are starting to bemoan the system again, yet others think we should drop Koren because it compromises said system. I'm a fan of the system... because we're second. Koren's captain and is a great player. We should keep trying to fit him in.
I was thinking that. Koren is our captain and 2nd top goal scorer so I think he will always play. Meyler, Koren and Quinn could be the midfield three if we get a new striker in. It's crazy we are playing a midfielder up front and Aluko who is a deep second striker.
Koren looked poor and then Simpson came on and he couldn't control the ball ! Koren as scored a few when he's played up front so his scoring record isn't bad. Seems a waste of a good midfielder though !
I did say I wouldn't drop him, I'd just drop him back into the midfield. I think 'very poor finish' is still generous, I think Hobbs or Jakupovic would've done better. Second one-one-one where he's had acres of space and plenty of time to pick a spot and decide what to do in only 3/4 games.
I thought Aluko was far worse than RoKo. Sone tries to do too much on his own, and its often ignored because we play well, but it was even more obvious today.
Fair point. I wouldn't have him up front either... He scored loads of ranged goals last season and we're not seeing that as much this year. Two up top and Koren in the centre 3 pushing on when necessary for me.
