Could be that Bruce might have to try another system that suits him better or maybe leave out Evans and pull him back a bit. I thought Meyler was the standout today, put himself about and even got a decent cross in for a big lad. Great signing. Would have him and Roko pencilled in in the midfield come rain or shine.
Koren certainly wasn't the worst player out there tonight. The technique for his headed goal was amazing as well. We shouldn't drop him.
To be fair, I've only seen one post slating him tonight and it was obviously some overreacting childish moron so I think we can let that slide.
A few people are going to feel very silly reading some of these threads back tomorrow.
Simpson is League 2 standard
Think that's harsh on Koren mising the one on one... It was a very poor finish, agreed, but I can't see our "out and out" strikers making that run in the first place. It's frustrating and we obviously need a striker but for the goals Koren can score from range at any given moment, we need to keep him in the team if possible.
Interesting that some people are starting to bemoan the system again, yet others think we should drop Koren because it compromises said system. I'm a fan of the system... because we're second. Koren's captain and is a great player. We should keep trying to fit him in.
I did say I wouldn't drop him, I'd just drop him back into the midfield. I think 'very poor finish' is still generous, I think Hobbs or Jakupovic would've done better. Second one-one-one where he's had acres of space and plenty of time to pick a spot and decide what to do in only 3/4 games.
I thought Aluko was far worse than RoKo. Sone tries to do too much on his own, and its often ignored because we play well, but it was even more obvious today.
