What on earth is happening with this Walcott contract? I bet Wenger and co are putting it off until the end of the transfer window and then go 'look here is your new signing'.
I have a feeling that the news about Walcott signing a new contract will be anounced before the game on Sunday.
I agree we need strengthening, question is can we find the right player and do it ? I don't take into account anything that other clubs are doing to be frank with you.
To be honest it's just a gut feeling i have. It's a big game on Sunday and what better way of getting the fans excited
Perfect timing Wenger says his phone is full of offers, and he talked about 'most of them' they could afford and some they couldn't. I think it's clear that he is in the market. It remains to be seen though if we can do the right deal for the right player. If he doesn't, I'll be disappointed. But I don't want him bringing in any more 'deadwood' just to appease the fans either.
Good point about the "Deadwood" I think Wenger's normally brilliant player Radar went a bit haywire with some of the last transfers like Gervinho/santos/squlchi/park/Ryo but as I said normally first class so lets hope Wenger finds his transfer form this time.
If we were looking to spend £30m+ on a player I'd absolutely agree with you that we need to find the right player. As it is, there are many players available for cheap (if newspaper gossip is to be believed) that could improve our squad.
Gervinho - very technically gifted player, just beset with lack of composure and confidence. Santos - Actually pretty good on the left wing, totally out of position for LB and gambles in the tackle. Squillaci - Looked like a good sigining, France capped and playing CL football for Seville. Park - Complete mystery ?!?! Ryo - Bad loan move Other than Park (who scored a great goal for us in the league cup) I think the others were decent enough decisions at the time. Wenger also signed, Podolski, Giroud, Cazorla, Arteta, Mertesacker in the same time frame
Yes As i said we come to expect Wenger to work miracles and I think he will again but I do think the players I mentioned are average at best and to make another point every team needs perhaps 1 or 2 technically average players who are tasty geezers and will run through a wall for the team Wenger seems to overlook these kind of guys No issue at all with Podolski, Giroud, Cazorla, Arteta, Mertesacker
depends on what you mean by 'run through a wall' ? but I think we've got a core of die hards in Szczesny, Jenkinson, Wilshere, Gibbs and Frimpong
I guess I miss not having a Marauding defensive midfielder who can scare opposition by growling at them also every good team need a "hard man" Yes the core you mention will be good for future no doubt (I think Gibbs may have to move forward not stay as fullback) we need a left back
Call me cynical but I reckon we'll get confirmation of Walcott signing a new contract about 11pm on 31st January!
It's a bad sign that in the middle of January, newspapers can't even be bothered to make up transfer rumours for Arsenal. One paltry entry for Arsenal in BBC's transfer gossip column...
There have been very few mentions of Arsenal in the BBC's gossip column but plenty of newspapers have been reporting gossip about transfers e.g. Remy & Lopez
