Grygera retired mate. No longer at the club. I would presume Jol sees Baird/Davies as our second choice right back, unless Simpson comes from Newcastle, but the way their season and transfer window has gone so far, they might want to hold on to everyone they can.
Grygera has retired from 'English' football as of last month. And yes, on the face of it we do only have the one right back, Sascha Riether. Chris Baird (and most will remember the Man City game away), Aaron Hughes (when Jol experimented with three at the back) and Simon Davies (in Europe, and now back but far from full fitness) have played there but I don't think any of them would claim to be a natural right back. Also in his video interview today, Jol said that Diarra can play that position, but of course he's injured.
Grimmer and Brister from the U21s are both competent right backs (and pretty hard nuts) but it would be asking a heck of a lot for either to step in at this time.
Bit worrying then, given that Riether has had a number of knocks this season - although in fairness he has always recovered quickly and shown no ill effects.

Edit: And although (only) 29, a two and a half year contract is a pretty good deal for him. Certainly more than we would have offered, given that he struggled to get an extension last summer.
Sorry to see him go to a degree, but he needed to play and he was never going to oust Reither. Good luck Stephen!
cor, this reflects our transfer kitty- russian rouletting with the right back position. All for 1.3m. We must really need 1.3m. Not to mention the fact our right back is loaned in, we've established ourselves in the premiership for over 10 years now, we have to be able to at least spend what we make, especially when we need to! Our centre midfield is a player who was 4th or 5th choice last season and a 40 year old greek . The money freed up too from the wage bill must be huge- how much are we paying Berbatov?
Dear oh dear, get a grip! Kelly wasn't playing, he wanted to play, another club wanted him, so we let him leave; it's crystal clear we didn't let him go for the money, for goodness' sake. Baird, Hughes and Davies can cover at RB. Berbatov's wages are very reasonable, especially as Man Utd are still paying most of them for the duration of his contract here.

Despite Derek Boateng being absent at the ACON, there is no reason why his transfer shouldn't go ahead, if it's going to that is . There is talk that Dnipro have upped the ante (which they did in the summer also) and any deal is stalling. This article is typical of the stories going around -

I think the amount mentioned is wide of the mark and it's more like £6m that Dnipro are holding out for. We won't pay that much though and probably see him at £2m - £3m.

Having, correctly in my view, rejected Spurs' valuation of Huddleston we are now reported to be chasing the Rennes combatitive midfielder Yann M'Vila.
"Fulham boss Martin Jol will make an £8million offer for France midfielder Yann M’Vila, in bid to snatch him from under the noses of QPR and Newcastle, writes the Sunday People. Hoops boss Harry Redknapp flew to France last night to watch M’Vila play for Rennes, but the 22-year-old is reluctant to sign for the Loftus Road club.
Jol has had his scouts watching M’Vila and is keen to sign him after negotiations over Tom Huddlestone stalled over Tottenham’s asking price. Fulham are not prepared to meet the £7million valuation for England midfielder Huddlestone but are ready to bid higher for M’Vila
M’Vila was tracked by Arsenal and Spurs after a memorable performance for France against England in 2010, but has a bit of a bad-boy reputation. He is currently banned from international duty until the summer of 2014 after an unauthorised night out while on Under-21 duty in November."
I reckon this would be a good signing and a player who you'd expect to be up and running from the outset.

Would be quite a coup if we were to pull this off, but I'm not getting my hopes up. And no way is Boateng worth £6m.
David Stockdale has been tweeting mixed messages. One thing is clear though and that, not surprisingly, is that he wants to play regularly. It may be co-incidental but Man Utd have recalled their keeper Ben Amos who was on loan to Hull. As mentioned in an earlier post Steve Bruce is keen on having Stockdale permanently, so a bid might be on its way.
Either we play him or sell him. Can't expect him to be happy on the bench forever. Wasn't happy Schwarzer walked back into the team after recovering from injury. That must be so deflating that you will always be second choice no matter what.

The 20-year-oldâs agent, Nikola Juric, has claimed that he is aware of the rumours, but that the London sideâs approach has been rebuffed: âI heard that Fulham made an offer to sign Okore but his club rejected the proposal. A lot of teams are interested in him. Half of the clubs in the Premier League are after him, so are Lyon and many others.â

We're also, according to the BBC gossip round-up page, interested in Bernard Malanda-Adje, an 18 year old Belgian defender. I've no idea where in the defence he plays - Wikipedia is very patchy about him!
