Defoes was outragous...it deserved a booking

Bale has dived (like plenty of gooners) but he's been wrongly booked against Liverpool in November, Fulham in December and again today. The refs should only book players if they are certain they've dived and they clearly aren't doing this. How the ref hasn't said he made a mistake and rescinded it is also a joke. The decision today was farcical especially considering the ref allowed defoe to get away with the most blatant dive you'll see.

Another issue re players going down when touched is that when they don't they rarely get a free kick...there was a good example of that today when Lennon was being pulled back and he stayed on his feet so the ref refused to blow his whistle.

Every team has examples of that happening and it simply encourages players to go down.

Sorry, but all three of Bale's were richly deserving of a yellow card, mainly because he doesn't go down right away, he takes a step or two completely in balance and then drops like he has been shot. He is going to get a yellow card every single time for that. Even if you (or he) think he was fouled, diving like that is bloody stupid!

guess we'll have to just disagree then...

I think Bale gets contact sometimes, but it's the way he goes down. He feels the contact, but instead of staying on his feet, he takes a step and then throws himself to the ground and it looks like a dive. This is where refs are pulling him up for simulation.

At other times there is simply no contact and Bales just dives.

The problem for Bale is that two don't look very different and Refs are clocking him for it.
He and Suarez have got a reputation with refs now, they both get fouled sometimes, but their theatrics are costing them.

People are just seeing what they want to see as is often the case in football.

The issue is about the way football is played and reffed in general, focusing on particular players according to your bias would only convince a stupid person.

How solid is Spuds' midfield 4? Pace of Lennon & Bale with Sandro's defensive authority alongside Dembele's creativity & intelligence.

Only if you don't know the Laws. To be cautioned you have 'to be trying to deceive the referee by pretending to be fouled' Since he was fouled he can't be pretending so the yellow card was wrong.

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas, dismisses suggestions of a move for 23-year-old Internacional striker Leandro Damiao. "He's a player that is highly rated in the market, and it's unlikely that he will play for Tottenham."

I see Adebayor has been up to his usual tricks. He's gone public on his 'difference' of opinion about whether AVB thought he would play for Togo or not.

We told them he was trouble <whistle>

Adebayor, a fine example of greed ruining a player's career. He was on to big things at the end of the 2008 season when he grabbed 30 goals, but then his money greed in that summer led to the beginning of the end for him. He's never replicated the same form, he fell out with his new club City, where he said he felt loved, and is now causing trouble at Spurs, and is proving that he certainly wasn't the hassle to sign in the summer.

I still do not think he is actually THAT good. Yes, he has spells where he looks like he can be a top player, but more often then not he flatters to deceive. In the 07-08 season, we had one of the most creative midfields in Europe with the likes of Cesc,Rosicky and even Hleb creating goal scoring chances after goal scoring chances. Also Ade got SIX of his goals against that dreadful Derby team.

But if he falls over two steps later than the contact, then is trying to deceive the referee and convince him he was fouled two steps after the contact. Therefore, dive.

Justify it if you want, it just makes you look bad, not Bale look innocent.

Bale just won the greatest award in this category:

Now this picture is problematic for a couple of reasons. Daniel Levy acting hard just doesn't sit right, he strikes me as the sort of bloke who couldn't punch his way out of a paper bag. Secondly his 'big transfer fee' obviously only works when people are trying to extract a fee from him, not the other way around. I mean who else would turn down a £40m offer and then accept a £30m offer for the same player <laugh>

I wouldn't mind being 'Levied' - can you give me £10m too Danny <ok>

How many times are you going to repeat that £40m figure despite being repeatedly corrected, Piskie?
You're not a big fan of honesty, are you?

I always took thirty million plus ten million to equal forty million . . . funny that.
