...On a stadium i am determined to visit before it's demise. You may well not be interested, but the club was founded by Mackems (and basques, and a smoggy!), plays in red and white Umbro kits, and once knocked the Mags out the UEFA cup. Bilbao are our Spanish brothers! A very good read, and really captures the pointof Bilbao and it's Basque heritage. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13353458.stm
Basque, actually, although it is true that a 'pure basque' couldn't be black, i don't think this was the intention behind it mate I actually think it's quite noble to keep a club which is effectively 'for their people', i think tocall it rascist is wrong. That said, i know they have had crowd troubles of this nature, so sadly the 'noble act' described looks to have bread some element of racism, which is a shame in the bigger picture. As the article says, the FIFA Financial Fair Play change could catapult them to the top layer of European football.
There a good team but no team in Spain can compete with Madrid and Barca and these new rules in europe with the finances will make sure of it.
It's sad, but very true mate. Muniain and Llorente will now doubt be pilfered by the 2 big boys sometime soon.
I'm all for them. I always have been. The guys went from Wearside to the then shipyards of Bilbao. An amazing heritage. I've followed them for years and have always hoped to get to the San Mames. I hadn't realised that the club was moving. I'm unlikely to get there now. They are not racists. They are Basques.
It's got one more full season mate. I'm determined to get there, and as it happens, i'm 99% moving to Spain at the beginning of June, so no excuses.
