If you're going by that, most people call us City. If they're our fans. Even the club's hashtag thing on twitter is #hcafc
The Rugby Club name tickles me. Hull RLFC founded 1865, they proclaim on their badge. That's Hull Rugby League Football Club, founded in the year 1865. Remarkable, given Rugby league wasn't founded until 1895.
It's Hull City Association Football Club(Tigers) Limited t/a Hull City AFC (a wholly owned subsidiary of Allamhouse Limited)
Hull City Association Football Club Ltd ceased to exist when Adam Pearson took over, when the entity became known as Hull City Associaton Football Club (Tigers) Ltd. FACT Deal with it.
I take the point, but they are correct though. The Rugby Football Union - to which all clubs were originally affiliated wash't itself actually created with a set of common rules etc until 1871. However, many teams were playing versions of the rules long before that. To be fair Manchester United claim a history that goes back to the Newton Heath days (1878), the same club just evolved its name. Hull RLFC HAVE to put the L in to avoid a copyright issue with a club that was registered as Hull RFC only a few years back, before that they didn't add the L. Still the same club (and still the same bag of shoite)
No one gives a monkeys if they are more than 30 miles away from Hull. HCAFC are Hull where I live and have been everywhere else I have lived too. RL doesn't really exist.
I tried researching that but could only find out that Hull Town had played an FA Cup match and that was it.. wonder if they were just a one-off representative amateur side?
Allamhouse is obviously just the company that currently owns the club, but the club have always been Hull City Association Football Club as far as I'm aware(AP added the Tigers bit), at least after we were Hull Town.
Sorry, took my eye off this one! So shall we say that your 'real' official name is StrovolosDoesn'tReally KnowHisClubTiger, but because we are all fans, we'll call you StrovolosTiger! (I'm not trying that one with City Agro . . . )
On the other side of the debate, I've seriously never heard of HCFC as far as I recall. It just looks wrong. If I have seen it, I've probably thought it was just a schoolboy error. Mostly its Hull City, not Hull City FC or Hull City AFC anyway. However, Hull city FC just looks wrong or too similar to Hull FC whereas Hull City AFC looks right to me, as it actually is.
'And it's H-u-ll City, Hull City AFC...we're by far the greatest team..' Nope, can't say I've heard that one being sung.....
Just about spot on. On an earlier thread about HullFC born in 1865 - this has always intrigued me believing it is way too early - before even Notts Co and Sheffield FC?
Good point, but its a song so correctness is often butchered for correct scanning. Okay, so I've heard it said. Never seen it written before. This discussion is about as ******ed as the Humberside one just out of interest. I'll dip out at this point.
Interesting point but still wrong - its a song that lacks correctness just as ... give us a C, give us an I, give us a T, Give us a Y - what are we called? The TIGERS, is stupid..
