It is a statistical fact that women are on average very slightly more intelligent than men but that the most intelligent beings on the planet are with out doubt men.
To understand the logic of this you need to be familiar with the Gaussian distribution.
The distribution of intelligence amongst women has a narrow distribution about the mean while for men it is much wider also the mean is just very slighter higher for women.

I remember attending the Farnborough Airshow when they first exhibited the hovercraft. I think it was around 1959.

I know the piece you mean...men are more likely to be geniuses or morons. Geniuses are often very single-minded and ignore normal life...neither really describe women who usually have real life intrude on them. I also read astudy that showed that the average intelligence of Jews is higher than normal. Of course, both pieces of research may have been superceded by later studies.
This probably explains why nearly all of the women I have met are more interested in keeping the house tidy and doing the washing up than discussing the first principles of Euclidean mathematics.
Luckily I met one of those wonderful women who score just inside the 4th standard deviation above the mean for female intelligence and she undestands geometry.
The only thing that astonished me is that she actually liked me and then married me.
Even to this day I don't understand why.
