FIFAs bent president, Sepp Blatter, says players walking off the pitch while being racially vilified by "fans" should get a yellow card !!!!!!!
Can someone have a word in the morons ear and explain the meaning of life to this perpetual clown???
He is living proof you don't have to have a long neck to be a goose.
 
I cant believe how long it is taking for the men in white coats to turn up and take him away!
 
I agree to a certain extent as if supporters have spent their hard earned cash to watch a game how many times is this going to happen where for some reason a player (or players ) can just walk off. It can be sorted out after the game. Also if a team is losing the crowd can do what they like to abuse players , the players walk off and then the game is called off. This could have many repercussions, how would it affect the league placings for instance. How many supporters would give up coming to games, as some travel a great distance to support their club. Racism is a serious thing but must be dealt with in the same way as other serious issues before it all gets totally out of hand. How can anything merit a player just walking off in the middle of a game.
 
I see the sleazy Silvio Berlusconi has now given Blatter an earful! Good on yer Silvio!
 
It is not up to the players to deal with fans. It is up to the police and officials. Coin thrown at Carra, he throws it back, tat is worse tan name calling ffs, yet carra got done. If a player knows this then it is their own fault. You are replacing logic with undignified reaction. Would it be great to have a serious amount of games stopped? Who wants to sign a player that walks off regularly for being abused?

Otherwise Scholes has a right to walk off for being called Ginger or Suarez for being called Goofy

Walking off is NOT the answer. If he had a word with the officials, and they the fourth and him the police, the game can continue whilst the offenders are being marched off to a cell for the day and a nice court date afterwards and the other non offending fans still get to see the match.
 
walking off is certainly not the answer but how do you deal with say 100 or more fans chanting? it is difficult to collar the lot of them. Tricky one.

They should stay on the pitch like they're bloody well paid to do: rise above it and set an example.

It's the responsibility of the authorities to crack down on such behaviour. If they fail to act appropriately, then they deserve every bit of criticism levelled their direction (e.g Serbia-England U21).

Bull s**t!!! Sorry but thats utter cr@p.

No one gets paid to take racial abuse and no one should be forced to endure it, regardless of whether they are being paid or not.
If I was being racially abused at work, I would report it to the authorities, and if nothing was done about it, I would refuse to work until it had been sorted.
Money should NEVER be used as a reason for someone to take vile abuse like that
 
People found making racial chants should be fined and given a season long stadium ban by the clubs.
And if clubs fail to act, they should be forced to play a home game with an empty stadium.
Hit them where it hurts, on their gate receipts. You would soon see clubs take it far more seriously.

Finally, a level headed response. Blatter is an idiot but if players start walking off everytime there is racial abuse, we will start walking down a dangerous road.

Should UEFA and FIFA do more to tackle racism? Absolutely. What they're doing right now is way below adequate... but imagine if the away team is losing and the away fans then start making racist chants... the players walk off forcing the game to be forfeited... who really benefits? If the game is awarded to the home team, is it fair on the away team and the well behaved away fans that their team loses due to a few idiots? Should the people who paid with good earned hard money to watch a game have to suffer the repercussions of some idiots' behaviour?

It's sad that it has gotten to this point but walking off the pitch is not the solution. I understand why Boaetang and other players have done it but we must be very careful about how we deal with this issue.
 
I can see both sides of the argument.

On the one hand, no one should have to tolerate being racially abused and there should be a zero tolerance policy on all forms of racism by everyone. If I was being racially abused in my work place by the masses then the last thing I would want to do is stay in such an environment and it would more likely than not negatively affect my performance.

On the other hand, walking off punishes the majority when more times than not its a minority who are to blame. Innocent fans who wanted to come and watch a game of football and/or support their team will have had a wasted trip along with their time, effort and money. It also gives people the opportunity to racially abuse others when their team is losing in the hope that the person or persons being abused will walk off and the match will be abandoned. It also means a player who would at other times usually put up with racial abuse may choose to walk off if his team is losing and hope that the match is abandoned.

I think the correct way to deal with it is that one of the players needs to report any racial abuse to the referee and have him deal with it. If it's one person or coming from an isolated area the referee needs to have a way to communicate that to the stewards and any Police there so that they can deal with it immediately. If it's a whole load of them then give the referee another way to communicate it to stadium staff so that extra stewards and Police can be brought in to monitor it and pick out a few in the crowd who appear to be leading the chants. Then have the referee bring the players temporarily off the pitch and into the dressing room. The Police can then throw out those who they believe to be the ringleaders and any others who stand out. Then keep a string Police presence in that area looking at the crowd for the rest of the match. See if they choose to dish out any more racial abuse again. Then bring the players back out and continue the match. Have the club pay for all the Police services.
 
I don't think they'd walk off the pith in a competitive game. The Milan game was a friendly and I think Boateng made a bold move walking off. The game meant nothing and he sent a big message to FIFA and UEFA, especially considering Blatter's recent marks on racism.

With that said Blatter is a complete and utter buffoon. The sooner he's out of a job the better.

And here of course is the real problem. FIFA do bugger all. Roma fined 25000 euros for a flare,Milan 20,000 for racial abuse. The player walked off PRECISELY to show FIFA up for not acting.
The ref didn't act, the officials didn't act, FIFA doesn't act.Thats called last resort, and it has the desired effect. Blatter is shown as the moron he is.

This is great in theory but not always possible in practice, particularly at some foreign grounds, if the police and/or stewards go wading into the crowd trying to remove people it could start a full scale riot and lead to police/steward being attacked. Its probably unlikely to happen here in the uk, but at Italian grounds and eastern European ground I would not be surprised. Also some of these countries do not have the same CCTV networks that we do here in the UK so it might be difficult to identify people. In some of the eastern European ground it would involve ejecting hundreds of people and just not practical.

There is also the obvious sinister rout to helping your team, if you are 2 - 0 down with 5 mins to go (i.e out of the game) some fan(s)may shout racial abuse in the knowledge that players will walk of and match could be abandoned, and possibly a replay. Its sinister I know, but would not surprised me in the slightest. Its a difficult debate because if they walk of it almost feel like you are letting the racist win, I'm sure there will be some racist groups who would even go to matches with the sole intention to get more exposure for their organisation/ cause.
