Dawson looks bad cos he is bad - at least you noticed that no-one in the team passes to Daws unless they really have to - theres a reason for that - he ****s it up

At least Dawson can cross a ball! when he gets the ball and runs into the box he generally creates some excitement and in his time has created some vital goals. Andy's a good pro and if you seriously think otherwise you havent been watching him for too long..

Age is showing but he's not crap

1 in 4 times after he had possession it ended up back with the opposition. I kept a running count.

As for his corners, only one was met by one of our players.

His vision was shocking, Dawson was out on the wing in acres of space and he either passed it short or backwards when Daw's was shouting for the ball. Cairney even managed to make Daws look bad.
Dawson makes himself look bad! One footed, slow, indecisive, unadventurous.

Those who recall the odd posts I record on here will know that I'm not a member of the Tom Cairney fan club. I went to yesterdays game with the view that this game was set up for our 'wonder' boy to shine..

Well he didn't.. He didn't control the midfield, spray beautiful, intelligence passes around, boss this team of lower league hoofers..

He was really really average, gave the ball away, lost possession, couldn't tackle, head the ball or create chances..

Oli looked better, much better..

Don't bother using the cross which Nick scored from as the 'get out of gaol' card, or the fact that most of his colleagues were not at the races, it was his chance to convince us doubters.

If Mr Bruce farmed him out to S****horpe he'd have my full support.

As for Simpson, get rid....15 Games no goals, always facing the wrong ****ing direction, can't even control the ball..<doh>

Sorry but this is nonsense.

I think you'll find we've got a shed load of one footed players incl Koren! yes slow he's nearly my age! Indecisive nope, unadventurous.... maybe he's spent his entire career playing in a flat back four.... not Bruce's new formation.

He was in space on numerous occasions yesterday but our midfield couldn't pass that far.

We have a shed load of one footed players who are competent with both! As you said hes nearly your age yet can kick a ball with both feet. Dawson is regularly caught in two minds when passing forward, which results in him passing sidewards/backwards. Many full backs in a flat back four are adventurous! Look at Evra, Cole, Marcelo. I can go on.

how long ive been watching him is totally irrelevant as you can't base team selection on sentiment and all thats important is how hes performing now - i go to every match home and away so i can say first hand that his crossing this season has been atrocious, he only has one foot. constantly out of position, leaves his marker much to much space, hes constantly pulling shirts to keep up - sorry i know hes been a legend but hes passed his sell by date - thanks for the memories but no more Im afraid

As a a general rule, I find when people start using backward passing as a reason to slate a player it's probably worth ignoring them.

oops and 'past' his sell by date for the spellcheckers

As a general rule, when a players only forward pass is a chip down the line, they should be dropped. Ignorant **

If you look at the squad and the ambition of the club there are players who are eventually going to be moved on as they are just not good enough and/or strong enough - Oli and Cairney for me are 2 such players - strikers are harder to come by but if you look at Quinn and Meyler, Bruce seems capable of bringing in midfielders that are much better than the ones that were part of our regular first 11, let alone the subs

I second that

Tom is the most overrated City player since Stuart Green. We don't currently have a single other player who consistently puts in poor performances yet for some reason some still claim him to be this missing jigsaw piece in our team. Meyer has had more good performances in the same role in 1 month than Tom has had in 3 years. And aren't they around the same age?

Get rid.

He wasn't brilliant but he did more than the rest of the midfielders put together.

How come Oli, Mckenna, Rosey, Simmo haven't been slated yet. They were far worse than Cairney.

People don't go on about any of them as if they're the messiah. Everyone knows and understands their limitations.

They do with McKenna, people seem surprised he was **** yesterday, when he basically played exactly the same as he has every time he's played for us.

Think he's a lot more overrated than Cairney.

I don't rate Cairney. To me he's just lazy, doesn't really do much and always passes backwards. Corry Evans has proved in the last few weeks he's a much better player, and with Meyler there now, TC will have to make do on the bench, as DM is a class act.

well dont ****ing reply then

It's embarrassing to read coming from our fans though.

I know we all think we're pundits and that's the point of a message board but any manager would tell you that backward passing is not a bad thing, it's even more embarrassing when the fans at the stadium start groaning because we passed it backwards <doh> It's part of the game, you pass it forwards when there's space to but if there isn't you keep the ball.

Respect your opinion but it isn't the same role. Same position yes but different roles in our team.

I dont have a problem with passing backwards and keeping possession, i do have a problem with passing backwards when there is a forward pass to be made with his weaker foot, yet he chooses not to. If anyone thinks Dawson is still good enough for our team then blow me ......... down.
