Well, Bent for Hangeland would actually be an okay deal I think. Bent for Hangeland & £8m? That's a terrible deal for us. I think Berbatov would potentially play better alongside a straight no. 9 like Bent. He would be able to play the slightly deeper no. 10 role he seems to enjoy. However, where would that leave Ruiz? I'd rather have Ruiz/Berbatov than Bent/Berbatov, any day.
Very good indeed. Get Bent and Bolat in and I think our business would be done. Not for the £8m price tag though.
I don't want Bent at all I'm afraid, guys. Sure he can score goals but we need a bit more creativity in central midfield, for me. Of course, a cheap deal (as in, half the £8m touted) on sensible wages, or even a loan would suit more. But this is by the by, I don't think he'd want to come here and sit on the bench, which I think he probably would.
My Norweigan friend says we have been chasing Forren for seeral months now and that he is excellent. Sound a great signing to me.
I couldn't see him, Berbatov and Ruiz all starting at the same time as Jol likes to play one up top. Jol loves Ruiz and Berbatov so I guess you're right about Bent only starting from the bench. Bad news on Forren, with Norwegian press now reporting Fulham are NOT the mysterious club in talks with him.
Saw that too, but also saw another Scandinavian website reporting that it is Fulham... I guess we'll have to assume he's not coming until he's pictured at CC holding a shirt. Man Utd and Everton are heavily linked too.
Two more that I've read this morning: Apparently we're competing with Stoke and Udinese to sign St Ettiene's 21 year old left back Faouzi Ghoulam, and Spurs have said that they'll 'listen to offers' for Jake Livermore, with us one of the teams supposedly 'monitoring the situation'. The terminology used in both of those suggest that we take them with a shovel full of salt for the time being.
Things are warming up aren't they? No to Bent though. Jol's interviews about injured players coming back etc indicate he isn't looking at a striker or did I miss something?
For some reason the signing of goalkeeper Sinan Bolat has fallen through - if he wasn't signed by today he was due to return to Standard Liege and Jol said nothing about him in his press conference. We are however still being linked with signing a new keeper and the rumours re-surfacing are Stecklenberg and Robson. With Butland being added a a new one.
Rumours this morning that we've made a bid for both Butland and Steklenberg. At least one has to be false.
Dutch papers say a deal was agreed with Brugges but Forren turned the transfer down, preferring to come to the premiership. Jol has reportedly said that we have not made an offer - perhaps we have too many 'forren' players ? (sorry couldn't resist it.)
I wondered who'd be the first to crack that one! In all seriousness though, that would be an excellent explanation for signing Richardson.
Reports from Ghana suggest that his signing could be dependent on him opting out of the ACON - Here is a link to the full article - http://www.supersport.com/football/ghana/news/130104/Why_Dereks_destiny_lies_in_Fulham_decision
Poor bloke, I do feel for him (if it's true) but it's no good him signing then sodding off for three weeks when we need him now.

The Boateng deal is a tricky one. I symphathise with both parties. Boateng is going to want to play for his country but we have every right to request that he stays to play for us. I wonder, had Diarra not returned to international duty and then promptly got injured, would we be asking for this. I hope some sort of compromise can be met between the club and the player. Just a side thought, I heard recently that Mohamed Diame has a release clause of 3.5 million in his contract at West Spam. The few times I have seen him this season he has come on and completely changed the game and dominated the centre of the park. Good passer, solid in defence and pitched in with a fine goal. He is 25 years old so still has years ahead of him. The oly down side is he is Senegalese so would probably be goingto the ACON. Very talented player though. COYW

With no move for Forren, Douglas equally now 'dead in the water' and Madlung gone quiet the CB position is a tad worrying. The worst possible scenario is that Hangeland gets snapped up in the last days of the window and we're left with no time to find a replacement.
