  3. Well, I think we can safely say that we don't need another keeper <ok>

I'm not sure we can safely say anything about keepers on here.

  5. True.

But we do seem to be collecting top class keepers in the same fashion that £ity went around collecting strikers.

I agree plus I think we'd get more out of a Benteke / lukaku type player at a similar age.

Hi Moorph, I used to do that as part of searching. - but the trouble with that, is that if someone tweets something at 10am, by 7pm the tweet is completely lost as there's so many people hashtagging thfc. Also, people who you follow automatically seem to remain towards the top of the search term results, so it can be difficult to spot everything from those your dont follow. There's no real method as such, it's just been a lot of trial and error and following people as I've begun to believe what they've tweeted, then following those who they also recommend.

    ...And unfollowing plenty of course!

just stay away from anything with "ITK" in the title! They seem to be in abundance at this time of year<laugh>

I don't think we need a new keeper, Lloris is 26 and is regarded as one of the very best in Europe. Friedel has been one of the best keepers the Premier League has seen and we have Jordan Archer (19 and has played for Scotland U-21s a few times already) who seems to be doing good at Wycombe and in my opinion, has the potential to become a decent back up to Hugo in years to come.
I think from a keepers perspective, they probably wouldn't want to join us anyway, especially someone of a decent calibre. Anyone with true ambitions to play knows that coming here and battling Lloris and Friedel for the number 1 jersey is arguably one of the toughest challenges throughout Europe for any keeper and they'd likely fail in that challenge.

I've been blocked from about 20 of them prats. I called them out and proved they were talking nonsense, then ridiculed them for being wrong and surprise, surprise, suddenly I could no longer see their tweets.

I do love Twitter though, great for banter and info on topics you like/ people of interest (most of the time <laugh>).

Hopefully we can tie up this deal for Holtby then, as I mentioned yesterday I've no idea how good he is but a couple of youtube videos (plays like Messi!!! <laugh>) and wiki/ website info has led to believe he's a very talented player. Didn't realise he had English heritage. Looks like a player that would suit our style and if we're to get the pre-agreement now for the Summer or get a cut price deal done so he can join immediately (come on Levy, surprise us!) then I'll be delighted.

I think we have a great Pair of keepers now, although Brad will need replacing at the end of this season probably,he's still a good back-up though

I know nothing about him either, just what I've seen on youtube.

I'm unsure how he'd fit in. Looks like he plays the role of Sig, who spends most of his time on the bench as it is! apparently he's got no pace, so i'll be astonished if he can play as a winger!

Perhaps the likes of Thudd and/or JL have had a word with levy about moving on as they feel their game time is restricted. maybe this Holtby is a guy we're lining up to be a replacement for one of those two?

I hope we've not just gone for a cheap option who is not even as good as what we already have.

He seems more of a playmaker than Sig though, something I feel we lack. Reading his current stats on ESPN, he currently has 3 goals and 5 assists in 17 Bundesliga games and also 3 assists in 6 Champions League matches, not too shabby to be honest. Though Soccerway says he's been subbed off 11 times in his 16 Bundesliga starts (started one on the bench) which indicates he does tire towards the end (Rafa part 2 anyone? <laugh>).

Hudd and Jake play much deeper than what Holtby seems to play but I do think Hudd's days are unfortunately numbered here at Spurs. He's just not been the same since he came back from injury and he's already behind Moussa, Sandro & Scotty and I reckon AVB probably favours Jake a little higher. I can see Jake going out on loan and Tom being sold. It still leaves us with Sandro, Moussa, Scotty and Carroll which I think will be enough providing we don't get the injury curse! Sig & Deuce (and possibly Holtby) can be used as emergency CM's if needed, or perhaps bring in an experienced CM on a free for the remainder of the season just for back up and to be safe - A "Saha/ Nelsen" signing?

Naturally I still want Eriksen for the CAM role, he's definitely my number 1 target but if I have to be truely realistic, will Levy really splash the cash in Jan? I'm not sure. So a freebie/ cut price Holtby maybe the best we can actually get.

the thing that i don't get though SOS, is that no one's heard of him. all of us on here are pretty avid football fans, but who has geninely got some specific info for us? we've all had to go on wiki/youtube etc etc. <laugh> Ok, a lot of us didn't know about eriksen, but at least he was touted by the media and pundits, which they triggered us all to look into him. (as well as his dislays for Ajax in the CL of course).

With this Holtby lad, is does come across like we're all trying to scrape the barrell to say positive things, just because we think he might be our next signing.

With all the media sources these days, and information available at your fingertips, it concerns me that Lewis Holtby isn't far better known in the footballing world. We're pushing for a consistent top 4 now and CL football for years to come hopefully. (or even higher perhaps). - My concern is that this is a typical budget buy that could easily be a flop. - Let's remember top young talent doesn't go unmissed in the world of football these days! for me, this is as much of a risk as spending the big bucks on someone.

i just don't know what to make of it, where he'll fit in, or if he's good enough??!!

I think the reason Holtby has suddenly become the name on many peoples lips is due to Schalke publicly announcing that he had rejected their recent offer and is therefore free to speak in January for pre-agreements for the summer etc. To be fair, Arsenal and Liverpool have also been linked as has Bayern Munich so I'd like to think that the scouting teams of all clubs have obviously researched the lad enough to get an idea as to whether he's good enough or not. He does have 3 caps for what is currently a German side with an abundance of talent so I'd like to think he's doing something right. Plus no doubt Freund knows a bit about him too which could be the reason why we're favourites for his signature now.

Sometimes you have to take risks, there's been players over the years who all thought would flop/ have little impact and have turned out stars. Lets hope Holtby is far better than what we're all hoping/ expecting and if he does indeed sign, we'll see it as another master stroke in the transfer market from Levy.

yeah you could well be right with that, I'm just amazed that he's not better known, a bit like Andre Shurrle or Marco Reus for example. - Like you, I hope he turns out to be a cracking little player if we sign him. - But as your last paragraph says with regards to "having to take risks", it could easily go the other way. We're in desperate need for a creative midfielder. - this better not be a "hit and hope" option we've decided to go for.
