Just wanted to big up the little man as he seems to always escape the attention some of the other players get.

For me he seems to have matured immensely this season or maybe is reaching his peak,hes 25. All of a sudden he gives me the aura of a senior player now, someone i look at in order to influence games. When he has the ball i always expect something intresting to happen..i definately know that the oppo defences brick it when Azza starts a run. What im really loving about him is how he gets the ball and cuts in and runs right across the opposing teams keeper area,from right to left with nobody knowing whether we are going to get a dribble,a clever reverse pass or a shot. He reminds me of Kanchelskis at United who had a knack off starting a mazy run along the keepers area usually finishing with a cracking shot and he was a massive player in his time for United.

AVB must take credit for this as he should with restoring the beast in Defoe. Yesterday he(AVB) said(paraphrasing) Lennon recognised if he is going to play in this team then he needs to improve his game and when he basically sees the standards Bale is setting on the other wing it just made Azza more determined and he has worked and worked on the quality of his crossing.

so well done to Lennon for wanting to be the best at his job and to the coaching staff for recognising that there was more in his locker..it just needed to be lured out of him with the right kind of management...and i think he can get better.
 
He's definitely picked up this season. He's started to look far more comfortable when he moves inside and he's shooting more often, especially in the last few weeks.
We just need Defoe and Adebayor to read his runs a little better and start taking up positions that can take advantage of his crosses.
 
I've noticed an improvement in Lennon this season without doubt. As AVB stated, he does live in Bale's shadow somewhat and I can recall before we discovered our Welsh wizard, just how much we missed Lennon whenever he was injured or out of the team.

He's added finesse, movement and a final ball to his game this year. He's played some great cut backs, beaten defenders and put the ball on a plate at times, only for our forwards to be dismally out of position at times. His goal last week was class and most pundits would be creaming themselves if that was scored my Bale, Messi or Ronaldo. After eight seasons of loyal service, he is still improving. Credit to the lad!
 
Good article, <ok> Pecking order may have helped him as well, with Modric and VDV leaving he has moved up. The effect on other players when a new 'top' player comes in is often overlooked IMO. Without wishing to knock VDV in anyway I think that when he came in he slightly stifled what some of the team were doing and in particular Lennon.
 
I think Lennon is as good as he was during the season when we won the Carling Cup.

His fitness is back to 100%, as is his confidence. He's running at players, and getting in some fantastic crosses, as well as scoring goals. On his day, he is easily as good as Bale, and we probably have the best pairing of wingers in Europe. Plus, with other great players in the side, we have the option to play a formation other than 442, should either or both of Bale/Lennon get injured or be suspended.

Lennon's current form is a major reason why we are doing so well, in recent matches. Long may it continue.
 
True about the pecking order but as far as right wingers go..we only have Lennon of real substance so putting the likes of VDV and Modric there instead to accomodate them will have hit his confidence. Might sound like a naive comment because no doubt Harry will have given some kind of instructions aswell. However with AVB, 'job descriptions' seem more defined and this has helped alot of the players in particular Defoe and Lennon who can focus now on their main tasks...playing everyone in their strongest positions has been refreshing to see.
 
Alway's been a Lennon fan,and it's good to see him back to his best.he runs at defenders and can go past them on either side which keeps them guessing,and now his final ball has improved,he's even better.
 
To say Lennon has improved and stepped up is a massive understatement. It's as if we've signed a new player, it's combining the Lennon of old when he burst onto the scene with a player that can finally cross and also track back massively to help the full back(s).

Credit to the lad for not allowing Bale to be our only wing wizard and well done to AVB and the coaching staff for also bringing out a new and improved Aaron Lennon.
 
I think Adebayor went to the same spot just off the back post everytime Lennon got the ball down the flank yesterday. It's difficult to look up and take in everything you see so it helps for Lennon to know that he's always got a ball on to the far post, it's a feature of Lennon's game that he often gets himself into a good position with the ball but then stops as he can't see a good pass/cross on. Knowing where Ade will be should help him with that but like Bale he could do with Defoe making a dash for the near post much more often than he does.

Agree with all the praise he's been getting, he works very hard for the team, tracking back but also popping up all over the pitch now. I still think he could be braver in taking on defenders and whilst he's had a few more shots recently he's still too hesitant to overall.
 
i have always like lennon. He is a confidence player without a shadow of a doubt. For a number of years i believe his confidence has been down due to injuries, being rushed back from injuries, getting reinjured and as others have said the situation recently with VdV.
The guy taking the pitch now is the player i thought we'd have when he first burst onto the scene. As someone else pointed out, that goal last week was FANTASTIC. I can't believe the lack of appreciation it has got.

What inspired management and coaching from AVB. You play the players where and how they like to play and voila they discover form. You don't but Lennon on the left. You don't play him as an inside right, you play him on the right wing and give him some license to do what he does best.

Now why didn't I think of that 'Arry?

It was only towards the end of last season Arry started playing players out of position.

Was anyone moaning when we was sat 3rd, right behind city & utd?

or when Arry took us into the champions league?

or when we beat Inter and Ac milan?

Yes towards the end of his stint he started to lose the plot and play players out of position, especially in 4-2-3-1, but overall I would say he generally played the formation which suited our squad best.
 
The pecking order thing is spot on.

Kinda like Walcott at Arsenal, better players have moved on and both now are probably the 2nd or 3rd best players each side has got and because of this are playing better.

Spurm writes with great eloquence and has an earnest and intelligent discourse. Its evident he has a lot of experience in somethings...... he must be 115 years old, yes One Hundred and Fifteen. He certainly doesn't write like a Kid Totsfan.
No disrepect to Lennon.
