Just seen they have had to play all their home games at various other neutral stadiums as theirs has been deemed unsafe, then proceeded to spend a small fortune on stadium improvements which still haven't bought it up to the required standard.

Sounds like a Pompey sort of fiasco!

City apparently only want £8m for Lescott according to the Daily Fail (and a few others). Worth a shout or will his wages be off-putting?

Think Astori would be a good signing, though I have a lingering feeling that he will go to Napoli. They've just let Salvatore Aronica (a CB) go to Palermo as well, so it would suggest they are in the market. Tanc mentioned on Twitter that there is some bad beef between Cagliari and Juventus which could make a transfer difficult, but I have to admit I've no idea what that's all about.

Jeremain Lens and Davide Astori would be a hugely successful transfer window for us. The first I've heard of us being linked to Tyton is in this thread, though I know he is still out of favour at PSV, who are currently playing Boy Waterman in goal and have the very highly-rated Jeroen Zoet out on loan somewhere, so he could be a feasible option. I'm just not sure if Nige will bring in a third goalkeeper in a season, as much as I believe one is needed.

Also Tancredi has just responded to me on Twitter; I asked what the chances were of Astori wanting to play for a club in our position, he simply replied with 'high'... sounds vaguely promising!

Strange. Obviously Cagliari isn't exactly a great place to be, but with teams like Juve and Milan after him?

They are all skint though...we can match them for wages and have first team football to offer.

Maybe he's gotten an advanced screening of the DVD.

The Serie A is definitely the place to do your shopping right now, the big teams are too broke to buy anyone decent domestically, and the little teams are too broke to keep hold of their stars. Shame, but I still hope we pick them apart like a vulture.
