Our friends over on football365 are running their latest poll, `who will finish 3rd?` and laughably have Liverpool as one of the contenders! <laugh>

We all know Jamie Redknapp and his love for all things Mouser, likes to give Liverpool a mention at every given opportunity (even when discussing the top 4) attempting to big them up and disguise their ever increasing slide into mediocrity, but football365 have taken this a step too far.<doh>

  4. This is the main thing that really pisses me off - the so-called professional pundits talking about 'Pool as though they are still a major club. They are not, and have not been for a number of seasons. Also, they are clearly a club in decline, and whose brand is very much on the wane. It is clear for all to see that Everton is now clearly the top club on Merseyside. Yet that does not stop the Mouser-orientated media making out like 'Pool is merely suffering some kind of temporary set-back, and that everything will be okay just as soon as Roy Rodgers settles in. No mention of the tarnished reputation since Klan-gate, or the destruction done to the club by "king" Kenny, or the lack of funding from the new Yanky owners, or the distinctly average squad of players and lack of depth in quality, or the fact that they they have a Championship manager who has achieved absolutely nothing in the top flight. None of that, despite the fact that even the Mousers are now slowly coming to terms with the full extent of their mediocrity.

Then again, that is the very reason why this thread exists, to redress the imbalance.

In time, I am sure the Mouser mods will come to thank me, and beg to reinstate me back onto their board, with a publicly written apology.

I would say that Liverpool (and Arsenal) have lost what got them trophies in the past.Namely one or two "regular" goalscorers and a cast iron stop at nothing defences.
I believe Liverpool started their run in the 60's with Shankly leading a "charge of the Light Brigade" attack at home and put up the shutters away. This brought Liverpool success with Tommy Smith tackling a player and half the crowd at the same time.Arsenal followed this up in 70-1 with that dirty lot led by a very nasty Peter Storey and quite a few others. They got results playing this way but it wasn't nice to watch.....unless you supported them!

Many a pool fan in the Media, no idea whether they will get back to the top or sit in mid table for the next 10 years but what i do know is we will be listening to nonsense from pundits about how they will get back to there best for a while yet.

  7. Unfortunately, I believe you are right, Style. That's why I truly believe that relegation and a stint in the Championship would do us all a huge favour. It would force the 'Pool-loving pundits to take off their rose-tinted spectacles, and get them to face up to the fact that 'Pool is now a spent force. Even the Mousers would benefit in the long term, because I'm sure they'd lose their arrogance and finally come to terms, within themselves, that the days of "top 4" finishes are well and truly over. It worked wonders for the Toon lads (who are now quite a nice bunch), and I'm sure it would do the same for the Mousers.

  8. This is quite true, BigSmithy. It was the same with the Leeds side of the 70s. Dirty players and very unattractive football, but it got them the glory.

I think 'Pool have tried to revert back to the dirty days of their glorious past, what with the clear edict that Roy Rodgers has handed down to his players, to dive at every possible opportunity, and we can also see in the dirty antics of Suarez that 'Pool would rather win at all costs, even if that means cheating. It isn't good for football, and the world has moved on since the 70s (thankfully).

Liverpool have had a win at all costs mentality for longer than that - Owen and Gerrard were hitting the deck before Rodgers even had his coaching badges, after all.

    EVEN Lawro has GIVEN UP:

    Shock Horror!!!!

Lawro gives QPR to beat the Mousers 2:1. Is it a last ditch attempt to regain the lead in the Spurs Alternative Prediction League or has Lawro finally seen sense and figured that the mickeys are worse than the team who have been proping up the league for most of the season, i.e. he has realised that the mousers are ****e!!!

I agree wit the first bit, we've performed like our league positions have shown.

On the second bit, do you have the figures to show our brand is weakening, not just your opinion without data behind it <laugh> no a professional person like you would surely be armed with all the info being a slick lawyer? <laugh> such a liar HIAG, pathetic! Everton being ahead of us for 2 seasons? Sure what happened the north london power shift?

A lot of you spuds display a vast amount of wishful delusion.

Talk of Everton Liverpool.. <laugh> You do realize Spurs are a blip on the global football map compared to any of 6 other premier teams including Liverpool. SPurs are nobody so lets keep that wishful thinking coming <laugh>

Am still waiting on you to win something? anything? Saint and Greavsey mug even <laugh>

4th is nothing but finances if you have no chance in Europe as clearly shown you dont, first decent team you met in the knockouts they slaughtered ye.

Win something, your cabinet is fookin empty <ok> We have a real European trophy to clean in ours not a plastic replica like the mancs

I know what it was but Pavlyuchenko was never much of a diver and Bale gets told he dives by know nothings who simply don't like him. Even the one against Scotland where the defender said he made contact and he didn't think it was a dive, messageboards were full of people bleating on about how it was a dive and it's a disgrace. Even so you could still write down all Suarez's dives up against Bale's "dives" and the list would be twice as long for the South American.

Doubt he is has taken off the rose tinted spectacles, more like good old reverse psychology from good old Lawro.

Fair enough. I know a lot of other fans who don't like Bale mostly because the media have been trying to compare him to the World's best, like Ronaldo, for so long and they wrongly think that he believes all the hype and is arrogant. I'm sure they'd all like him if he played for their team but I don't think in a lot of cases that it's because he plays for us.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't if you ask me.

Bales an alright lad, He's no scum bag. Besides what goes on on the pitch has feck all to do with what happens off it, so even if he was a dick on the turf, that dont mean anything.

Giggs is very decent On the turf..

    ..his brother's wife's turf
