I don't like the Pro Bowl. It is held a week prior to the Super Bowl. The results count for nothing and the risk of permanent injury is there.

Although a great honor to be selected, I'm not sure that playing it makes a lot of sense from a player's perspective. What if you get hurt just before you become a Free Agent?

If I was a Coach of a team that was going to play in the Super Bowl, I wouldn't want any of my players getting hurt just prior to the big game.
 
qpr, thought player who were partaking in the superbowl were excused from the probowl and player brought in to replace them!
 
Yeah, thats what happens, those involved in the big show don't turnup for the Pro-Bowl..
I think its best they get rid of the Pro-Bowl and, as others have said on other forums, turn this into a Senior Bowl where the draft picks for the following year get another chance to show off their potential, would maybe make for a more meanful game.

A few years back some players refused to go (or were not permitted to go by their team) and the NFL stepped in. The League said that the players HAD to go since the players were voted in.

The coaches for the Pro Bowl teams usually run out the Super Bowl guys for one series, pat them on the back and hand them a beach towel.

It is in Hawaii after all...

You are right. It was the week AFTER the Super Bowl for many years.
The League figured that two weeks between the Conference Championships and the Super Bowl was too long so they filled in.
 
Ridiculous rosters once again. I follow Richard Sherman's way of thinking that All-Pro Selection is far more of an accolade.
 
I think they should replace it with a "wooden bowl": the two teams with the worst record playing off, with the winner getting the #1 draft pick, the loser having to settle for #2. At least then there'd be a good reason to watch it, and it would give casual fans the chance to evaluate the worst teams' draft needs.

Nah the Super Bowl players don't go at all, they just have alternates.

I'm mixed on the Pro Bowl. On the one hand it must be great for the players, and personally I don't mind watching it as despite it not being a competitive contest I still find it enjoyable, but the selection process is very flawed. The list of undeserving and snubbed players is too long to even bother beginning, Sherman probably the biggest though as he should be in the running for DPOTY let alone the Pro Bowl.
