There is talk of Song being sold - perhaps to PSG. It seems being in the team that lost to Celtic didn't help his career. Question is - would you take him back?
I would. He's a good player and rarely injured. If he's lost his alleged arrogant streak after not making the grade at Barca, he may come back a little more humble. For less than Arsenal sold him for, he'd be a fantastic addition. A midfield comprising Arteta, Wilshere, Cazorla, Song, Rosicky, Coquelin, Ramsey, Diaby would have good strength in depth. However, if he came back, I think Coquelin would leave.
Is it Song's fault? Maybe he wasn't told to stay back last season, as he was advancing a lot and grabbed a lot of assists. Saying that, there is no point bringing him back. I'd love to get a DM in but Wenger isn't playing that system at present. On a side note, is Frimpong going to feature for us in the future? Something tells me that we are getting ready to ship him out. I really hope he gets a proper run with us first.
Wouldn't surprise me actually. Classy football; classy talented manager who was a legend in Spain; a team rising up faster than anyone. They're the new Everton, but with the potential to be better than Everton ever were.
I'd have Song back in a heart beat (as long as we didn't pay more than we sold him) but can't see it happening. Felt he was one of our better players for the past 2 seasons, even though he got a lot of stick for charging forward, even after Wenger said at the start of the season that when teams defend deep and expect Arteta (or Fab before) and Wilshere to attack, then he'd starting mixing it up and getting Song to charge forward unexpectedly - catching the defence off guard and creating chances/scoring goals. I reckon though if we changed the shape of our midfield he'd be great sitting in front of the back 4, protecting them while playing balls to Wilshere and Santi or Podolski/Gibbs breaking forward.
Songs a good player. If he was playing for the likes of Everton/Newcastle they're would be plenty of calls from fans to sign him.(He's every bit as good as Tiote, Barry or Fletcher) However they're are defensive mids out there I would prefer to have in my squad. Yann M'Vila would be my top choice as I think he's going to be a very 'special' player. I also think Lucas Biglia could be a great addition.
M'Vila is a good shout - we seemed to be close to signing him in the summer but it's all gone quiet. What happened? Did his supposed unprofessional attitude put off Wenger?
