Sagna heading for pastures new in the summer, according to the Daily Fail.

12 months ago, I'd have been devastated. But with the emergence of Jenkinson, I'm not that bothered.

It's worth mentioning we've royally ****ed this one up too. Why are we unwilling to offer an extension to the best RB in the league? Are we that tight fisted? Does wenger not know quality when he sees it?

I'll get stick for this, but Sagna seems to have lost that bit of pace and really I wouldn't be that disappointed if he left. Jenkinson has shown that he can hold his own as RB so if Sagna wants to go, offer him a new deal and if he says no then whatever.

Yeah, let's just got rid of everybody. Let's get rid of one of the best proven right backs in the world, for a youngster who's just had a few run of games, yeah that sounds real good. As I said, let's just get rid of everybody, Sagna and Walcott, 2 more key members to our team.

Sagna is an interesting point. He's now at the stage where if he signs a new contract, he'll have zero resale value. So the club are going to move him on now, while he's still worth a few million, and get in someone new, or promote a youngster.

If they signed him up to a new contract, he'd want a raise, and he's going to gradually deteriorate, before having a very low value to move on. Now is the best time profit wise, not necessarily football wise, to move him on.

1st of all the article is BS, 2nd of all Sagna has hit his peak and will most likely frop in the next couple of seasons.
Anyway do you know how Cesc, RvP and co. became so good? Because they profited and were given playing time from situations like this

Just playing devil's advocate here but whenever a player leaves, we moan about lack of loyalty etc. But at the same time, as a club we're always looking at the resale value of our players. If they get to 30 and their contract runs out, we immediately start looking for younger replacements.

I would keep Sagna. United have been dominating the league in the last 5 years with a core of 30 year olds. Why can't we have a few experienced players?

Because Arsenal are more focussed on good economics than good football :)
One side says "speculate to accumulate, trophies = investment = more success."
The other says "keep what we have for a rainy day, and win the occassional trophy."

Lets be honest we all could have guessed that.

He'll be 30 and Jenkinson has emerged as a great replacement.

Sagna is young enough that we can still get a good transfer fee but he's old enough that he may only have 3 years left at the top level (particularly because he's had some bad injuries)

Personally I would like to keep him but it goes with our standard policy of selling on players when we have a younger replacement.

We sound more like an accountancy firm than a footballing forum. It's time for our club to focus on the football than tirelessly talking about the finances!

Yeah absolutely it's kinda depressing. The day our club focuses on trophies rather than finances will be a good day indeed.

Walcott wants too much money. Sagna wants too long. Arsenal face losing both on the cheap if they don't move their position.

Arsenal see Sagna as no real loss. Belief in Carl Jenkinson, and Mapou Yagna-Mbwia seen as versatile (and cheap) option.

Arsenal big fans of Yanga-Mbwia. Strong, quick, athletic. Can play CB, RB or in midfield. Quality player. Could go for £8million.

I was very impressed with Mbwia when we played Montpellier, the fact he can also be a cover in numerous different positions is bonus.
