Brendan Rodgers goes in to church to confession "forgive me father for I have sinned!" The priest replies "come forth my child!" Rodgers retorts. " come fourth?! We'll be lucky if we come bloody tenth!"

Whats the difference between a battery and a Scouser...a battery has got a positive side!

We've made history HIAG, a history that Fergie even after over half a century at OT can't better or even equal, that's what the 5 gold stars represent.

Our history in winning silverware reached even last season(our worst in 50yrs), when did Spurs last add to their trophy haul, or are you suggesting finishing 4th in the prem is 'historical'?

It's amusing to say the least that you consider Spurs current status as massive when you've got nothing to show for it except a couple of ventures into the CL, keep it coming HIAG because your delusion is the standout feature on this your own thread.<ok>

To lose your derby 5-2 twice in a year is pretty historical and unlikely to be rivalled for a long time.
lol. I love the way the muppets on this thread conveniently forget about anything slightly disagreeable to their dreams of reaching the utopia of fourth place in the PL. Reach for the stars. I feel a song coming on. In my best Cilla voice.

A 'couple' of ventures into the CL? <whistle>

Because an ever-decreasing league position means nothing when a club has history, does it?

Then I guess that means Chelsea should bow down to the all-conquering Aston Villa...

(And, as I've said many times before, Spurs have plenty of history to be proud of - it's just our default position is looking at the present...)

I see Liverpool and Spurs got nice cup draws so that's something for you all to look forward to - I think this thread deserves a spurs liverpool cup final actually - that would be brilliant!

Watford got a nice easy one as well <whistle>.

That certainly would be very exciting.

And this would certainly be the place to get the most balanced, unbiased, and non-wumming commentary on such a game.

Give SAF finals v Borussia Moenchengladbach and Bruges and I'll show you 5 European Cups in no time.

In the meantime, 19 titles will do.

Ah, the ones we won don't count, and we only played the finals each time, against teams who obviously didn't deserve to be there just because they aren't the typical big European clubs.

If Dortmund lose to United in the final this season, which could happen, will you in the future say 'Ah, but they weren't Bayern Munich, so it was very easy, really'. No, you won't.

It's a very poor argument which also forgets the fact that to win 4 of the 5 cups Liverpool had to either win the league the year before or win the European Cup. It's pretty ironic that the old version is referred to as the european Cup and the new one, which allows the first 4 from some countries to compete, is called the Champions league!

Early on in this thread, I wrote the following:-

It does have to be said that, over the three seasons that I have been quietly observing the Mousers, there does seem to have been a shift in delusional views this Summer. I will hold back from believing that the Mouser has mended his ways, because I think it likely that he is merely shell-shocked from all the dreadful things that have happened in such a short period of time, culminating with the club desperately trying to get rid of its most expensive player of all-time for peanuts to the likes of Fulham or West Ham. None of us could take that kind of punishment without being forced to hold our heads in shame - and have no doubts that the Mouser truly has much to hold his head in shame over.

No. I will withhold my judgement until halfway through the season, because I am willing to bet that if, by some lucky fluke, the ex-Swansea manager gets a few wins under his belt, the Mousers will be back to their old tricks, organising street parties, and dancing all night to the tunes of Cilla Black, telling us that they are going to rule Europe for the next 1000 years.

Unfortunately, I have seen and heard it all before. Except that, this time, some Mousers do seem to be genuinely ashamed of themselves and their club.

Now, I know that we are not yet half way through the season, but already my words are looking prophetic. It'll be interesting to see where they are, come the New Year. However, it is already abundantly clear that 'Pool is well below Swansea, as things currently stand.

Well, you have three weeks for your 'Rodgers to be gone by Xmas' prophecy to come true. Good luck.

Don`t worry, Brendan will be there for a while yet, your lot can`t afford to sack him and if they did nobody else would want the job (until Rafa get`s sacked).

Plastic says what?

Manager need time to implement a plan. We cant all be spurs fans and boo our manager at his first few home games.
HIAG said enough is enough after a few games, then changed his tune quickly enough <ok> PLastic fickle much

No point in Spurs fans discussing the value of European champions and the worth of individual trophies when they've never won it and rarely featured in it.
Well compared to 5 wins 8 finals for the top European competition, one of which the ref admitted taking a bribe from Inter to rob us.

Funnily enough, all those teams we beat that were so easy to beat apparently? They were more successful than SPurs United Chelsea at that time so..? Huh? All of em were bigger than any of the other English teams at that particular time, they were in European finals where as Spurs were also ran nobodies <laugh>
Conveniently any good teams we beat en route don't count towards the successful tourney also <doh> spuds fans just <doh>

Spurs have no business discussing the Champions League, it's like going on about that lovely bird you got one night with before she found out you had genital warts <laugh>

Spurs fans on this thread...<doh>

They are like young teens who have sprouted apube and suddenly think they are John Holmes...lol

No plan for the future, no prospect of a decent future, just enjoying a good spell, which isnt exactly on the level of other teams good spells..

Whereas Liverpool are like that girl who comes out of a long-term relationship, lets herself go and puts on a load of weight etc. but still thinks she's all that............

So apparently its harder to win the CL, Manure lose 2 and draw 1 of their last 3 and top the group.. yeah harder to win yes, jes <laugh>

And the hilarity of chavs slating City for not doing better in a much harder group <doh> Chelsea, used ot be champions of Europe but now are

the only team to go out at the group stage after winning it, new heights of failure from Chelsea <laugh>

That's some feat when with a record of won 4 lost 2 (won first 4 to win group- so what do the two dead games prove?)

That you can not even have to show up for two whole matches after waltzing an easy group and progress seeded. Are you kidding? If you just include CHampions.. I think it will be a harder comp, the best and only the best. Kind of logically making sense there, adding lots of naff teams dont make it harder to win
