Agree with this part of the Mail's article:

Then they go and write this:

It wouldn't be reported to the FA even if something was going to be done though, it's the FAW who'd have to deal with it as he's playing for a Welsh club.

It's the apparent intent that's causing the fuss.

when a few months ago, 2 men lost there jobs, for treating her differently....typial media morons

I wouldn't be laughing at McNaughton barging an official in the way he did whether they be male, female or hermaphrodite.

And it's no wonder that action hasn't been brought against him if those self-serving ****ers at the Welsh FA have anything to do with it.

Where was the ball after he kept it in play? Did he change direction to get round the defender and continue after the ball? Why was she still stood there when the ball is heading towards her accompanied by 2 fast and large individuals ? Is she unaware that she will be right in the middle of it very shortly?
Personally, if it had been a male linesman, I'd have expected a verbal volley to follow about standing elsewhere accompanied by a few expletives.
He could have apologised to the lines(wo)man, but how often does that happen on a regular basis. A guy would be told to get out of the ======= way.
How was the game going ? Was there pressure for an equaliser or needing to win? How long left of the game? If guys on the field are regularly headbutted, punched and other forms of affray that would have us in cells, why would you believe that wearing an officials shirt would give you divine protection from a collision with a 75-80 kg mass travelling at speed?
Just get out the way. You could see THAT coming.

EDIT After looking closely, 3-0 down at 62 mins play. He's trying to get the ball in the box or get round to take it in himself.
She has travelled down the line and has STOPPED at where she has identified as a good position to get the best view for when the next ball contact is made in order to make a correct call for offside.
She isn't watching the ball, she's looking out to the field for players positions in relation to the ball. She is about ONE FOOT from the touchline and THREE FEET from the players (@ 15secs).
THEN she looks at play, realises she's stood in a bad place, arches her back thinking he'll run round the back of her, but he hits her at the back of her left shoulder sending her flying forwards, not sideways, as you'd expect. Because she'd realised and started turning away to get out of the way.
OOOOH, he barged her/ shoulder charged her. He barges / shoulder charges as part of his job, getting possession, keeping possession, intimidating the opposition. You think he has the intellectual capacity to distinguish between a man and a woman ? HA You think he has the manners to apologise, either ? DOUBLE HA.
Did she take action against him ? Did the impartial referee take action against him?
No, she picked up her flag, smiled and had a chuckle with the ref. Everyone knew she had goofed, including herself. Carried on as normal, like you would do if you messed up at work.
She gave a goal kick and got on with it. Like a bloke would do. I don't believe she is that important in a highly paid footballers life to be singled out for punishment. For God's sake, they can't even foul each other discreetly.
Next time it happens, she'll do what every other linesman does and take a big step backwards. Just in case.
Complete non event and definitely not malicious.
