Reet then, after the 'horses mouth' revelations that Gyan may not be here next season (i reckon he will, but let's just play along here), i chucked me thinking hat on, and came up with a not too shabby starting 11 for next season.... GK -Gordon - Top drawer, and too ****ing brittle to attract a bid to buy. Winner. RB - Hutton (Gyan deal) CB - Onouha CB- Titus (Samba if poss, depends on Blackburn staying up.. whichever of these would be captain) LB - Emilo Izaguirre (ã6million) LM - N'Zog (based on Titus patter last night, ã8million, reduced due to relegation) CM - Nico Kranjkaer (Gyan deal) CM - Meyler RM - Jordan MOLE IN THE HOLE - Sessegnon CF - Pavlyechenko (Gyan deal) Yes, it's one up top, but one who holds the ball and links decent, with the pace of Zog, Jordan and Sess, and the great dribbling and passing skills of Nico to find the runners. Now, i'd rather keep Gyan, but i'm putting a positive spin on the worst case scenario, and i ****ing like this team, and it would cost PEANUTS, as Gyan would bring in a packet. Subs? Turner, Steed, Catts, DANNY GRAHAM (ã2.5m), Knott, Noble, Mig22. Clearly, we would need another striker, but as i'm struggling to think of anyone, i'll work with what i can place, i think Graham would be busting his balls to be a success, and i think the midfield would have great movement and creativity, till they all get hamstring injuries and we fall apart like Jerseys Punto It's a loose draft, but it shows that we could potentially change a lot. Ned and Samba/Titus would be a collosal and athletic pairing, Hutton was class for us, Emilo is probably unrealistic, but Scottish football is ****, so hey, have a go! Over to you bunch of window lickers to pull holes in my cunning plans...
Aye, of course i want Wellbeck back, but i left him out for the purpose of a starting point, Whickham, again, looks a great prospect. I think it shows, this side, that even if Gyan went, we could use it to a decent advantage, that's a ****ing good looking team, and that was knocked up in 5 mins. Every one of those signings is achievable.
That's a very good team, but I doubt that we could get 3 players for Gyan. Pav and Hutton maybe at a stretch, but certainly not Krancjar as well! We do have the money though, if what Bruce said is true.
no, no, no, let me help you out GK -Gordon - Top drawer, and too ****ing brittle to attract a bid to buy. Winner. RB - Bardsley CB - Onouha CB- Titus (Samba if poss, depends on Blackburn staying up.. whichever of these would be captain) LB - Emilo Izaguirre (ã6million) LM - N'Zog (based on Titus patter last night, ã8million, reduced due to relegation) CM - Nico Kranjkaer (Gyan deal) CM - Catts RM - Sess CF - Defoe CF - Crouch(Gyan deal)
I don't expect us to get 3 class players for Gyan, but i'd say, maybe ã20million for Gyan, taking into account age, potential, and global stature, ã5million Hutts, ã8million Nico and ã8million Pav, is about right. We'd not be chucking a load in. Woodgate is on a bosman, if he could stay fit, he'd have been the best England defender since Bobby Moore, but if he gets injured as it is, he'd probably ****ing die if he came here. Syd, i'd have Pav over Crouch, every day of the week. I'd take Defoe, so long as i didn't have to like the little bastard.
You can see the point of my article though eh lads? Even if the darkest happened, we could come out of it well. This would be a great balanced side, mine or sydney's. Why am i not Bruce's assistant again?....
Krankie said he was away to italy or spain. Nevertheless agree with most posters on new (ish) team. Looks very good Like syd I despise arrogant defoe but he gets goals
That was me, i can't stand Defoe, but he is a decent striker. I think Kranjkaer could be tempted to stay in England, din't he refuse a move abroad in January?
Like the look of those teams I would love to see us land Hutton on a permanent transfer. P.S......My 900th post!
I think people are looking too much into this Gyan business. He's a Sunderland player now and I can't see him leaving anytime soon. For a team though, I'd be looking at: GK - Gordon - World class on his day although still want him to be more of a commanding presence. Shame about the injuries. RB - Sir Bardsley - He won player of the season at left back. Lets see him in his proper position. CB - Onuoha - I'd take him for ã6mil. Calm and composed, not to mention his Messi-like ability to take a man on CB - Bramble - He was our best player until around Christmas IMO bargain of the season! LB - Genuinely not a clue haha RW - Henderson - I thought he had an outstanding first half of the season (like many of our players) but has looked out of place in the centre. I think he gets too much stick from some people. Some people don't seem to realise this is his 2nd season!! CM - Meyler - On current form Colback would come ahead of Cattermole although I do think Cattermole is fantastic on his day but Meyler has the same steel in the middle but looks more composed and consistent. Looked like he was turning out to be a top player before his injuries. CM - Adam - Maybe it's a long shot because there will be a good few interested parties but I reckon he'd do well for us. He could pick out a pass and get forward and he could hold back and let the more pacey players zip forward. Another bonus would be his free kicks and corners....we might actually beat the first man!!! :O LW - N'Zog - We know all about the lad after being linked with him for the past 4 transfer windows haha. Very quick, got an eye for goal and can beat a man. His attitude has been questioned but I'd still snap Wigan's hands off for him. Just off the front man - Sess - Has shown v Wigan that he could well be our star of next season. Hopefully he'll be playing in a team full of confidence as well as talent and grab a few goals. ST - ASAMOAHHHH GYAN - He's not going anywhere IMO. He looked very good in the middle part of the season around the Chelsea game and in that particular game he was outstanding as a lone striker with Welbeck floating around the left. He can be a matchwinner, a goalscorer and a damn good dancer!! IF he gets the service and with that midfield I think he would. I maybe wouldn't start every game like that though. Some games I would be considering a big striker to start v the likes of Stoke so we need a good whole squad. We need to go out and get another couple of strikers. I'd take Kevin Doyle personally. Wouldn't cost a bomb but could do a decent job. If Carlton Cole could play to the best of his ability EVERY game then I'd have him in a flash but he's a Kenwyne and would pull out a small number of these games. As for defence, as much as I love the guy and although he is an outstanding player.....I'd let Mensah go back to Lyon you just can't justify paying ã6mil (the most recent figure I've heard) for a player who can't manage 20 games in a 38 game + cup games season. Much rather go and get a beast such as Samba. I just hope Blackburn go down although I don't think they will. IN N'Zog - ã9mil Doyle - ã4mil Adam - ã8mil Onuoha - ã6mil LB - ? Samba - ã4mil OUT Riveros Angeleri All of the players out on loan (e.g. nyron, killgallon, mccartney etc) Mensah Muntari Welbeck (we'll never get him) TOTAL IN - ã31mil + LB OUT - Anything we can get + some of our wage budget freed up
