sssshhh!, mind, now keep this dark, shrews may have found a team to beat away, yes a loggerheads day! we 3 kings from orient are, lie 1 place above shrews, on 2 points extra and a worse gd. orient have taken 3 points from 6 games, and their confidence is possibly as low as shrews, although orient are yet to play away in the cup at gloucester city, and may have their heads in the clouds wondering who they meet in the 5th round, hereford or arsenal. results lost 1-0 mkd, a coventry 1-0,h colchester 2-0,oldham a 2-0, cherries a 2-0 won, ah i knew there might be one somewhere. orient1 hartlepool 0 count the top 10 clubs they have played, i suggest orient may already be heading south, in good company though. league p16 w5 d1 L10 f11 a19 gd-8 points 16 scorers yes a few brunt striker 3 cook m/f 2 baudry m/f 2 now if uncle graham can persuade 2 of our mixed quality strikers to perform, with service from behind and across, town may have a goalfest. sorry this may be unlikely but at least our defence may have learned from their errors in the opening 10 minutes er hopefully. finally this is a very important game for shrews, the team and our beleagured graham. another reverse at eminently beatable orient and gt may be on borrowed time, and the squad will face a wholesale clear out, as we parachute down towards a lower league. but wait! stir your heards, gird your loins! to talk like this is nonsense. i predict a win against a team genuinely struggling to retain. league 1 status. so come on shrews you have played most of the big fish, time to catch the tiddlers! florear salopia!
Orient 1 v 2 Shrewsbury Helan Rodgers Att 3500 come on you blues!!!!!!!!!!! Rodgers please make your second stay at our club a successful one for all involved
On the basis of trying to stay positive I predict we will turn back the tide of away defeats, manage not to concede in the first ten minutes and go on to gain a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Marvin scoring witha header from a Richards free kick. I do not care about how many there are in the crowd - I just want us to avoid another demoralising defeat.
Well, I have a theory, not good but I will try it.....predict Town will win all matches and sooner or later I will get some points!!! Orient 2-3 Shrewsbury Attendance: 3,579 richards, Rodgers, Grandison
following this defeat, shrews drop to 23rd place. i believe town have the weakest squad in the league, and this is a turning point for the manager. rowland and the board have imo an unpleasant decision to make, and the sooner it is made, the better for the future of our great club.
I was not there but have read the report and it seems that, whatever is happening up front, we just cannot defend and gave away plenty of chances to a side who have lost their last four games. We need to get a settled defence very quickly and the next home game has become a must win. Come on Shrews - we can do better than this! Atcham - I share your frustration but we must be patient with our manager who has served us better than any other manager in his two spells here. I trust him to get things right but I sense the home support will start to turn against him if we lose our next match.
Shrewsbury Town manager Graham Turner told BBC Radio Shropshire: "It's difficult to accept the result today, and it hurts to see the league table. "No-one is going to give us anything at the moment - the penalty changed the mood and the crowd reacted to that. "To concede from a corner the way we did is upsetting." No GT we have to go get it ourselves!!, im not a person who likes to chop and change managers, but i think GT tenure as manager is coming to a close, we are a league one side, the supporters and ground back this up, but the guys running this out fit don't want to invest in our struggle, we have been waiting a long time to get into this division, and we are going to throw it all away at the first attempt...not only do i believe this higher status is to much for most of our players(and rag tag loanees) i also think its a 'bridge to far' for Turner and our tight ar*ed owner who have a combined age of 150 !! ......We need new young blood in now....
sorry tinned hats i may have to disagree with you again about rowland. his defence is he did make finance available last summer and it was gt who chose not to spend. i suspect his days of ownership of hereford taught him extreme austerity, but he had the use of money, and his choosing to go down the loan route of indifferent players with one or 2 notable exception has directly led us to our present desperate plight. the board need a manager capable of restructuring the coaching area, youth policy and refreshing a most indifferent squad. now gt may be the man to do this, but imo has precious little time to do it. the morale and confidence of the manager, coaches and squad must be at rock bottom and i wish graham all the very best over the next 2 home games in lifting spirits. i still believe he is now on borrowed time. i would hate to see him leave, and 4 points out of the next 6 will really lift everyone's spirits. including mine! no, rowland and the board should not be the targets, they are running a succesfull business financially. the problem lies fairly and squarely with the manager, coaches and squad, come on lads sort it soon please, and graham play anyone else up front with luke. er floreat salopia!
KSD and Atcham, I agree time is tight and the next two home games are vital with a minimum of four points needed. However, if we look at the table we are only currently three points adrift of 'safety' and now is not the time to throw the baby out with the bathwater and go for the massive changes that would result from a new manager and coaching staff coming in. Let us remember the quality of GT as a manager (and he has had success in higher divisions than this) and he does not have his record without being able to recognise a problem and be able to do something about it. It is an extraordinary part of a managers job that all us supporters seem to think we can do better than him. However I would not expect GT to come to my school and tell me that he can teach A Level Physics better than I can so I am just asking those calling for his head to heed the words of the late Clive Dunn and DONT PANIC!
ok greenhous, but i am arguing that the chairman made money available so he says, and it was not used. the positive is therefore, more dosh may be available in january. i cannot therefore lay much blame with the board, the problems lie elsewhere. i agree let us lift the shrews over our next 2 games and hope some precious points or even a point are won. come on you shrews, floreat salopia! and where the bh is everyone.!
Who was the last GOOD player we bought? Just out of interest.....it's late, I'm tired and I cant think of him (did we pay for Grandison?).
