He has tweeted that he is indeed signing for Bolton on a months loan. Hughton has said he needs minutes.

I see this as a get match fit loan and not Hughton wanting rid of him.<ok>

I suppose that would make sense as there doesn't seem to be a starting place for him in the first eleven at present Carra. <ok>
 
At the minute because of his injury and the form of others he is at the bottom of a long list of midfielders fighting for a place. He needs regular games and quite a lot of them judging by his last appearance for City.
 
Very much one for the future and returning from a nasty injury, hopefully this will be good for all involved.
 
I do believe that most of the time, when players go out on loan its a prelude to them leaving. Not always of course but maybe just this time he isn't going to make it and will free up another place on the roster.
 
I can't believe people think this means he's on his way out of the club?? To me this move makes absolutely perfect sense, he's clearly short of match fitness and needs some minutes which he's not going to get in our first team at the moment with everyone fit and in form so a month at a supposedly strong Championship side where he can get some match time under his belt is the perfect scenario. Then he'll come back and be ready to play for us as and when we need him - it appears totally obvious with me and I fail to see why anyone might think this is the death knell of his City career.

This doesn't happen very often but I'm afraid I entirely disagree with you on this one Redruth, sorry chap. I can think of tons of players who go out on loan and then make it with their parent club, particularly young ones like Butterfield. Kyle Naughton is certainly doing very nicely, and looks to have a promising career ahead of him with Spurs, as are Ryan Bertrand and Keiron Gibbs, all players we had on loan at some point. Cashley Cole spent a year out at Palace before making his name at Arsenal, and even Chrissy Martin came back a better player after his season at Luton.

This is a great move for Butterfield, just hope he gets games and does well <ok>
 
Yeah, I think it's a good move too. He desperately needs game time, and at his age it's not just fitness, he'll improve from it too. As said before, he's pretty far down the rankings at the moment, and Wessi's form at the moment pretty much precludes any first team involvement barring injuries (and then Howson may well be ahead of him for an attacking midfield role). Get him fit, see how he's doing there, then bring him back when he's firing on all cylinders ready to make an impact. There's no point him playing with the reserves, the reserve leagues don't have the quality of opposition he needs.

Alternatively, if CH has decided he doesn't fit, then good performances whilst out on loan put him much more in the shop window, meaning we stand a better chance of getting a better offer for him. I don't know what we paid Barnsley, but I get the impression it was below market value, so even if we do get rid, we stand a good chance of recouping the fee paid, or even profiting. It's a win win situation to me.

Edit: Just seen Bravo's post, clearing we're all keen to have him 'firing on all cylinders'
 
Agree 100% with Munky. The only chance this lad has got of making first team at the minute is if he goes out on loan and plays brilliantly. He needs to find rhythm and fitness before having any chance of challenging Wes for a place.

Very very good move for him, he needs minutes and time to shine.

Also, I actually never knew Ashley Cole went out on loan to Palace, cheers Munky <ok>

NO way is it a prelude to him leaving and I'm sure when his time comes, he will be a pivotal part of the team!!!

Just read the article on the EDP website and CH says it is purely to give Butterfield 'game time', as he's not going to get it at the moment staying at CR. He may well figure during the hectic Xmas run of games.

this is a very good move for both clubs and the player. we should have a revitalised butterfield returning in a months time, ready to push for a first team place. can't understand why anyone would say anything against such a move <ok>
 
Good move for him, good move for City (gets Butterfield some match experience and fitness level improvement as well as freeing up his wages for a month) and a good move for Bolton who will benefit from his craft.

Total nonsense to say he's on his way - his Norwich stamp on his passport is barely dry !
 
I don't think anyone has said anything against such a move. I offered an opinion that in many cases, loan moves are a prelude to players leaving, such as Garrido with us having further options at the seasons end. Its obvious that he is going to be back at Lazio. Are we really expecting to see Vaughan, Ward and Ayala back at the club challenging for a start?
I hope Butterfield goes on loan, is magnificent and improved and returns and becomes part of a real class midfield. I have seen him play only once as I suspect most others on here have so I can't comment from that game whether or not he is up to it. He is going to have to play bloody well to get into the queue let alone the starting line up.

you have to take each case on its merits. if he were an older player i could understand people suggesting his time is up at city (a la elliot ward) but he's a young lad who has recently joined, trying to break into our first team after a serious injury. it is pretty obvious to most why he has been loaned <ok>
 
totally agree supers, we have a very highly rated ex championship player who other teams were interested in buying, so we are going to ship him out on a permanent now that he has recovered from a very bad injury without actually playing him in the premiership? not a chance in the hot place, he is, in my opinion, a player for the future.
 
Interestingly (and slightly off topic) Garrido is just listed as one of our permanent players on the latest FIFA

obviously we know that's not the case but it seemed a little strange!

I understand that it has been arranged as a permanent move but if earlier injury problems arose again we had the option to turn it into a 12 month loan. Strange I know but that is the position according to my imformation.
