If this is really happening....has James Brent also arranged that Christmas will be put on hold.

Staff were called to a meeting this afternoon.

Somebody said something on Pasoti a few days ago about the staff but didn't elaborate ...... Disgusting if they were part of the staff who kept the club going by working for nothing .... pity he doesn't get rid of the one that should be showed the door !!!!:mad:

Been trying to check out the official website.......it is so poor to try and use and get any sense out of it........it keeps fading to the extent that it is unreadable.

But they don't seem to saying anything about redundancies.........maybe they have been made surplus to requirements.

I've heard that they are shedding 20 of the stewards and I think they are referred to as Difs .... the ones with the green and yellow jackets lol ..... the rest to make sure that they all work the same hours have one weekend in four off ! This is due to the low numbers at the gates ..... Mr. Brent you need to provide better footy at HP and quick !!!

There is no announcement officially as yet....so that means the process must be just starting......with no one probably chosen for the axe as yet.

Voluntary redundancies in certain areas will be asked for I suspect.......and then negotiations........what a shame that the best man for the job of union rep is sitting on the otherside of the table.

I did say last year that a boss quite often will take the sting out of the opposition by recognizing the strength of the shop floor convenor and his ability to lead men.....by promoting him to a management job.......that certainly shackled Chris Webb didn't it.........30 pieces of silver comes to mind assuming any of you went to Sunday School when you were young.

Looking on the bright side....(if that is possible).....no one might be laid off before Christmas and the New Year.......but even so... is anytime a good time to be laid off......accept maybe when your in the last year of employment before retiring.....and then it would be early retirement.

Fans voting with there feet might make it worse....so it has to happen again......how many season ticket holders...... maybe nearly 4000 ?

I expect one day it could just be the bloated team, manager, directors and sensible turning up......surely they wouldn't leave you sensible sitting by yourself in that big stand.....they might invite you into the Directors box.......and offer you a car space....but of course your not into cars are you sensible.

I am bemused but not surprised by the reaction on here and elsewhere to this news. Last time I looked the club was not a state funded charitable trust providing handouts to people that are surplus to requirements. As regrettable as it might be to lay people off, as in any other business if personnel no loger contribute to the overall business plan then it makes sense to let them go and I understand the intention is for no compulsory redundancies. JB isn't and has never claimed to be a sugar daddy willing to pump £millions into the club but I dont see anyone with the necessary financial clout/business waiting in the wings to take over. These are minor redundancies compared to the 200+ employed by the club on a regular basis, but hey why let the truth get in the way of the usual misinformed anti JB opinion makers.

Because you don't pay volunteers GAT and in an organsiation like a football club, you'd think there would be lots of people willing to help it for free.

For those who are grateful to have a club to support I would ask just who they are grateful to. Brent is their saviour in shinning armour but wasn't it the staff who worked without wages for so long who gave him the time to become this King Arthur figure? Selective gratitude is what that is. No comment about how much Brent paid and what he pocketed and what he has gained as a result since I notice. Take your belddy blinkers off wake up and smell the coffee. People are getting fed up with all this smoke and mirrors crap. They aren't just a load of dumb janners spending their lives chewing straw. If Brent put some money in then he wouldn't be breaking the bank or his pension fund he would just be shedding a portion of what he has already made or is about to make. Saviour???? Lets wait and see because from where I'm standing he is about 100 miles to the left of McCauley who was thought to be the devil incarnate during his reign. Problem is if we wait too long then it will be too late and the last nail in the coffin will have already be hammered home.

Sensible, you sound more & more as though you are about to burst a blood vessel.

Sit in the lotus position and chant the following:

    Only property developers wanted Argyle
    Brent is a property developer
He has no real interest in football
He will put no money into football
There is no buyer other than Brent
Get over it for Christ's sake

Repeat until you reach peace and fulfilment
