Cool...I've got home from work without Nige being sacked. Seriously though the club need to put an end to the speculation, either they need to put a timeframe on the amount of time Adkins has to turn it around, back him unconditionally or if they have already made their minds up get it over and done with and sack him. This atmosphere is not good for anyone, players and fans included.
Commenting even in a positive way will only fuel speculation. Surely you're familiar with the phrase "the dreaded vote of confidence"?
This has been on the cards for a while and as much as I would love Nigel to be Southampton manager for years to come we have massive fixtures between now and jan and I've seen no improvement in our performances that warrant Nigel to continue. I agree that the decision needs to be made either replace him or stick by him. Regrettably I'm of the replace him opinion. He's been talking for ages now about out defensive record not being acceptable yet he's seems unable to do anything about it. It would be criminal with why we've been through to not at least try to change things.
No matter what the club says it is only actions that count. How do we know what has been said to Nigel behind closed doors?
I think behind closed doors Adkins will know what he needs to do to keep his job. Personally, I would be devastated to see him go after what he has achieved over the last 2 years. Ultimately it comes down to what the club's ambitions are- if we want to stay in the Premier League then I think he needs to win the next two games otherwise we need a change. I don't think relegation would be a disaster as the team this year is clearly not Premier League standard and if we were to go down Adkins would be the best man to bring us back up again. Who knows what discussions have taken place at the top though?
For me choice of 3 but not sure any of them are realistic. Rafa, hoddle or martinez would be first choices for me however I can see nc looking abroad.
Not too sure about Hoddle. Probably our best manager of recent times but he has been out of management for some time now. I personally don't think Ranieri would be a bad option.
I agree that NA should stay even if we go down . However as someone said earlier NC may now regret saying we won't get relegated whilst he is in charge.......
Has he publicly said this? Or was this just said at one of those dinner evening things that fatletiss went to?
Nigel is dead in the water. Poor fella. Met with Cortese today after training. Big shame, gave me two of the best years of my Saints supporting life. Seems to be on a stay of execution for Saturday.
Come on they must have meetings all the time, you can't draw any conclusions simply from that, if it even happened.
If Cortese has already decided to sack Adkins he'd do it now. He may have been told it's win or bust on Saturday. Although Cortese does seem to like sacking managers after a win so maybe that's his plan!
