Sky just caught Adkins driving out in his car (trying to copy something from Harry). Said he loved being Saints manager and, when asked, said he hopes to be in charge on Saturday. Looked genuinly happy, but when doesn't he?

I really doubt Harry's in the frame, for so many reasons. Even discounting his personal issues, he doesn't have a particularly good record with struggling teams.
Yeah I can't see him fitting Cortese's plans at all. There's very little out there.
Adkins only has a real problem if Cortese has his eye on another available manager. A new manager would have the same team as Adkins has and would have to build a bond with them. It has been shown that the new managers effect (i.e. teams start winning) is a myth. Even Adkins who has been a great manager for us didn't start winning immediately. Have to see how we do over November at least surely.
I have no idea what Cortese is thinking. As a GUESS i'd say Adkins was close to the exit, but that achievements over the previous 2 seasons would buy him a little longer than would otherwise be the case.
What i'm taking a slightly pedantic issue with is your statement that its a FACT he will go on Saturday if we lose. Because you don't know that.
I wasn't suggesting it was winnable, I was only referring to the numerous posts on here since the Spurs defeat that November was "critical" as we had a few supposedly winnable fixtures coming up. Now one of those has gone and it's on to the next "winnable" one against a Swansea team who have last year's Premiership experience behind them, some decent signings over the summer and two good results against Liverpool and Chelsea in their last two games. I'm sorry but with our form up to now I just can't see us improving our points total dramatically over the next four games. I'd love to be wrong but if I'm right and we're still struggling at the end of November then at least we have the consolation of "winnable" games against Reading, Sunderland, Fulham and Stoke in December...!! ;-P

Your loyalty to a man that has managed 4 points out of 30 is quite incredible. It is good to see fans sticking by a manager who has hit a rough patch but who has done a lot for you.

Tom, the only facts at present are that Nigel is our manager and he has the overwhelming support of the troops ( us ). You were there last night, he got tremendous vocal backing - AFTER seeing us lose again.
Anything else is just hypothetical surely.
I cant think of any manager being touted for the sack like this and yet having such massive backing from a clubs supporters. Think we all need to calm down a bit and just plan to give it huge for him & the team again on Sat.

Er....did you actually read what I wrote?
I doubt that any Saints manager is loved as much as Nigel. I'm hoping he will have more success with us, but, when he moves on, his new team will become my second team. He says that he is a better manager now than when he joined us...he may come back to bite us in the future.
I know it's crazy, but I would hate it if Redknapp came back and got some wins. Totally illogical, but I'd want to yell 'you bastards' at the team.
To be honest, I think it's only because of the fans that he hasn't been sacked yet. He's such a popular man with the fans that sacking him without giving too much of a chance. If he wasn't so liked by the fans, he'd have been gone by now IMO.
Could be. But more likely they picked it up from the user who commented in the comments below the article. Wouldn't be any of us, of course, as would require a Daily Mail login etc.
The way you wrote it sounded like you were surprised that we would stand by him after such a poor start.
