Quote: "Everton boss David Moyes is making a frantic last-gasp bid to sign Burnley striker Jay Rodriguez" which was stretching the truth at best. Announcing transfers is not particularly impressive, lots of parties involved. Only one involved with sacking a manager - the saints board. He doesn't know what they're going to do and you can tell by the phrasing of his tweets:
Well if Nigel does go today I will have seen his first and last games in charge of Saints and both ended in 2-0 away defeats - his first game being at MK Dons.
If Nigel went, which I can't see happening, then Cortese will bring in a big name manager to the club. It would be about putting Southampton on the map and showing we mean business.
Yes, although his first game was a hugely forgettable affair, despite the fact that I can remember it well!
That's just unrealistic, though, in this day and age, unfortunately. But it definitely wouldn't make sense to get rid of him before our run of home games against teams around us. Need to maintain some stability. Problem is, once the media and bookies get hold of it, it just becomes a destabilising force which becomes self-fulfilling; only one thing can stave it off - winning games. Reckon he may only have one more home loss left in him before NC snaps. Possibly been told as much?
This 'story' has been on here for two hours now and nothing reported on the official sites so is it just another case of poor reporting from someone trying to claim an exclusive or insider knowledge? It is another inevitable story be thrown about through lazy reporting after last night's defeat.
Nigel Adkins locked in talks over future: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2228682/Nigel-Adkins-Southampton-talks-future.html
Phew, for a couple of hours back there I was worried we had lost Nige. Then the Daily Mail reported it..........
Surely they have got to give him the next 4 at least. They can't sack him just when we are about to have a good run of fixtures
I love the fact that the only reason why Di Canio is being touted for the job is because he is Italian and so is Cortese.
Well that article is spouting bollocks. "Southampton hardly splashed the cash in the summer". Well what do you call spending 12mill on 1 player then? ****ing idiots, the lot of them at the Mail.
"Southampton hardly splashed the cash in the summer, or sign players with proven Premier League experience, but they did add to their squad for the top flight. Adkins signed Emmanuel Mayuka from Young Boys, Gaston Ramirez from Bologna, Maya Yoshida from VVV Venlo, Steve Davis from Rangers, Nathaniel Clyne from Crystal Palace, Paulo Gazzaniga from Gillingham and Jay Rodriguez from Burnley" So, only about £25m then..... Such toilet "journalism". EDIT Ah sorry Tom, just seen your post now!
SkySportsNews on twitter is pissing me right off. It has three times this morning started tweets with BREAKING NEWS. Don't do this to me!
