Moving away from the great Bruce in Bruce out debate can I ask your opinions on Cattermole, is he one of us?

This is just a feeling, nothing factual at all just pure feeling. I read about our squad having very good team spirit but far to many times this season that spirit seemed to be missing, when backs are against the wall they crumble.

When I watch Catts he just seems out of it, his body language and that of those around him seems wrong. Looking from the outside I’m not sure how popular he is in the squad and how much respect he carries in his captain role. I just get the feeling that if he was sold in the summer and a new leader brought in, a more experienced leader, a older leader we could see a better and more obvious team spirit and fighting spirit.

I say again, no other reason for this thought other than a feeling I have.

i think catts likes being here, and is just frustrated at how it's going,

but a new experienced captain may be a good thing, and ease the pressure of him, cos he's a canny footballer you na..

From what I've heard, Cattermole is nothing but a pisshead! A girl I worked with last year is good mates with Jordan Henderson and she's been out with the players on numerous occasions. Cattermole was always off his face and smoking his head off. With behaviour like that I can't see how he will gain the respect of the rest of the team. IMO the guy is a waste of space and in no way shape or form is he captain material. If he keeps going the way he is, he'll be finished before he's 30!

I agree he is a good footballer mind I dont see him being a very good player that others do. My point is he just does not seem right, maybe its the captain thing but when the chips are down, like the second half on Saturday I dont see him leading, whats more I dont see any of the team wanting to follow.

Catts should be a bench player, nothing more, not good enough for anything else yet.

Disappointed if this is true, thought he'd sorted his game out. Shame when you hear things like this cause he's been excellent in last two games.

Its a terrible shame I agree and you would think youn players would learn form examples like George Best and more recently Paul Merson. And apparently he is right arrogant "look at me" type as well. In my opinion he is not Captain material

If Bruce goes I don't think Cattermole will be far behind him.

Would he be that much of a loss? We have Meyler who is a better all round player and is bigger physically.

I had heard rumours from Catt's Middlesbrough days that he was a beer swilling bully. I had hoped he had grown up a lot since then. Overall I like him, but he needs help in my view. He needs better players around him, because he really is a holding midfield player but because we've been pretty terrible this season he's been all over the park like a headles chicken. If he had a better midfield and better over all tactical discipline he would look better.

I agree Meyler is a better all round player, and certainly i expect Meyler to be close to first choice when he's fit.

Cattermole is a player that i am a big fan of, i think he IS a leader, and i think he DOES push, and try to keep things moving.

If it's true that he's still a piss head (i know he was as he was seeing a lass i know, she said he lived for booze and scraps, sidenote, she has magnificent breasts), then i would gladly say, piss off Lee.

    IF it's true.

Cattermole has had an average season ruined in the most part by injury and suspension. A little bit like Bruce then....

Rokereconomic might be right in stating that his time at our club will be determined by the future of Mr Bruce.

Smoggys and Mags eh? And we wonder why....

No? What does Catts offer that Meyler doesn't?

I agree mate, Meyler pre injury last season was becoming one of the most important players in the side, his rate of development was phenomenal.

I hope he's bang on it for the start of next season, Catts maybe shades him defensively, but Meyler has better distribution, and is markedly better on the ball.

There's the small matter of tempremant as well, of course.

I also think that Meyler when fit is a better all round player than Cattermole. The fact that Bruce keeps bringing him back in a hurry shows how highly he rates him too. I have doubts about whether Meyler is going to get back to the physical condition that he was before his injuries. He was without doubt the most improved player at the club and would have been an automatic choice for a starting place. He's a hard lad too but isn't a complete head case like Clatter'em'all.

I admit i do share your views on the physical side, hopefully a good, full pre-season and he'll be motoring again.
