Well, like I said, everyone makes mistakes, especially when they're young and I accept that, but after 20 times, you'd think someone would learn to use protection, especially if they're relatively old (i.e. late 20s)

Seriously? Who has had 20 abortions?

I find your assertion that it shouldn't be "encouraged" concerning. It is never encouraged, but by entertaining this thought you are stigmatising women who choose to have abortions for valid reasons.

I doubt its even possible to have 20 abortions. Even one can be damaging. I don't know if you would even be able to get pregnant if you had too many abortions?

    He is from pompey! :emoticon-0101-sadsm

I think anyone who is anti-abortion is absolutely wrong. Bringing another life into the world is a massive decision, and it should never be one enforced accidentally.

For what it's worth, I voted Obama. As people previously mentioned, he has done all he can to help America struggle through the economic crises. Mitt Romney is an absolute snake in the grass, and he literally just says what he wants people to hear. I thought Obama absolutely wiped the floor with him in the debates.

Back to the topic! I sincerely hope it is Obama! IMO his foreign policy is based on communicating with hostile countries and I believe we will see more of this as he won't be worried about a third term. Romney's and the Republican policy is a lot more confrontational and very scary!!

As for their economic policies, Romney has offered nothing except tax cuts and reducing regulation, eh! Very exciting indeed! I am sure many of us were watching the events unfold in the US last week and reference was made to the USA's urgent need for investment in its infrastructure. Witness the numerous power cuts it experiences, all down to an inadequate capability to supply electricity.

Investment in the infrastructure is need folks both here and in the US!

Foreign policy won't change whichever wins. Obama's administration has killed many civilians with those drone bombs in Pakistan. In many ways his foreign policy is no better than Bush's. For that reason I wouldn't vote for him, were it not that the alternative is too ghastly to even consider.

20 was just a random number, don't take it literally, basically I just mean they've become pregnant enough times for it no longer just be a simple mistake.

I don't think I am stigmatising women who choose to have abortions for valid reasons because I recognise that they are in a completely different situation to someone using it as form of contraception. I have nothing against women who have valid reasons (and I include people who have made a genuine mistake in that) and it'd be wrong of anyone to consider the two groups as the same. At the end of the day, I do think it should be legal, even if someone is using it as a form of contraception, as after all it is there body and I have no right to dictate what they should do with it. Just I think the latter is wrong and I think the blanket acceptance of abortion as being right is not necessarily wise or helpful, but of course a blanket rejection of abortion is wrong. Surely that's a fairly reasonable view?

Yep. Seeing both sides is definitely the reasonable view in any debate! (In my opinion anyway!)

I'm not sure if I misheard, but wasn't Romney quoted as saying something like "Russia is still America's biggest threat/enemy?"

    He did.

I think that was just before Obama said "The 1980's called, they want their foreign policy back"

Yeah that's a bit more nuanced than your previous posts and a perfectly reasonable position.

In terms of legality though you either have to have blanket acceptance or blanket rejection.

Phew!! True but perhaps this has been dictated by a need to get re-elected. If he is successful he won't have to worry about that and possibly we'll see the true Obama shine through!

PS: I see a comment from you "Pass" beginning with n!!

Wouldn't surprise me. This is what concerns me most about Republicans and their voters: it's almost as if they want America to have enemies. They think it's such a great thing to be this massive military power that keeps the rest of the world under its boot. That kind of attitude will cause more incidents like 9/11.

Read my post there just parental cells they dont have a full and unique genome like the fused egg cell does. So no I wouldn't advocate saving sperm as that would be like saving skin cells. I would go back to the fertilised egg, if you aproach this logically and without emotion thats the most obvious point at which a new human life is created. Not when they have brain function, by that argument are people with better brain function more human than those with worse?

I'll say it again picking an arbitrary value to decide what makes something human doesn't make sense when the one thing which truly does make us unique and human is a genome and fertilised eggs have that.

I have no doubt its a terribly hard decision and I dont want to victimise the woman who have abortions. However if you can't prove that these embryoes aren't human (and so far ive yet to see a convincing argument) then you have to accept abortion as the killing of a human life. If you are comfortable with doing that on the basis of finance/deciding whether they would have a good life then fine but I certainly wouldnt be and regard human life as far too precious.

Joe I was responding to you too just couldn't be bothered to quote you aswell sorry.

I would argue the life has already been brought into the world it just isn't fully independent yet (like a new born babie) and happens to be inside another person.

All people's brains function in the same way, regardless of intelligence. What I'm saying is that there is a large portion of time where the child isn't even conscious like we are. It's like a plant. Obviously you're depriving it of the chance of becoming a person, which is the main argument against, but even when brain activity begins, its brain is basically empty. It doesn't have any memories, experiences or real thoughts and doesn't actually value its own life. At this point it does suck that you're ending a life, would you rather it was born into a **** life, where it wasn't loved, raised or educated properly?

It's not like that until a late stage of the pregnancy where abortion isn't legal anyway.

If I have heard right Mitt has also not spoken against the senators that believe women that are raped shouldn't be allowed to have a abortion. Alot of Americans only believe abortion is right if the pregnancy is life threatening to the mothers life.

Kinda ****ed up to be honest, "Yeah you have been violently raped but it's still a human life". If that isn't backward what is.

What if the baby has been found to have a condition which means (a) It won't live anyway or (b) it's life will be full of pain and suffering. Should the mother not have a choice?, according to alot of Americans that's a no.

I can't see how people can justify a ban on abortions.
