No interest in Sunderland flop Riveros
Cristian Riveros

Published on Saturday 30 April 2011 08:57

SUNDERLAND are no nearer to offloading Cristian Riveros, despite interest from Brazilian giants Corinthians.

The Echo revealed back in February how Corinthians had made an enquiry for the Paraguayan at the start of the Brazilian transfer window.

But the Black Cats have heard nothing more from South America and must continue their attempts to offload Riveros.

The 28-year-old has flopped since arriving on a free transfer from Mexican outfit Cruz Azul last summer, despite impressing for his country at the World Cup.

In his 12 appearances for the Black Cats, Riveros has been neat and tidy, yet has contributed little of note.

Even during the depths of Sunderland’s injury crisis, boss Steve Bruce has been reluctant to use the midfielder, who has been an unused substitute for the last two games.

Riveros has not featured since January and expects himself to be on his way out of the Stadium of Light in the summer.

Sunderland will hope to earn a seven-figure fee for Riveros, which would recoup much of the wages spent on the South American, who signed a lucrative three-year deal.

hasn't played much,

but even when he has, he's hardly played well enough to excite any club,

if bruce wants to offload he needs to put him in the shop window,

but if he plays ****e again, there will be calls for bruce's tactics again, a no win situation i reckon..

I really did not see that much of him, showed some promise before he arrived.

May as well go for broke..........let him play........his record would suggest that he can even score a goal or two....

I think that the problem with Riveros is that if he does play (based on what we have seen of him), it reduces the likelihood that anyone with any sense would want him. He showed in the WC that he was a canny player. It's Bruce job to get the best out of him and he has failed in that regard, like so many others.;

If we play him, he'll get injured and we'll be stuck with him.

He was a signing i was excited about, and i think he's been harshly treated and not given nearly enough chances to settle and show what he can do.

So what you are saying is that Bruce likes to well and truley **** south american boys?

You have to questions Steve's constant desire to unearth young, untried and eager to please South American lads, especially when they come here, with little else to show for themselves except shadowy reputations and photographs of them running around in tight shortson the beaches of Brazil. I'm not saying there's anything sinister in this, but seeing as the one's he signs for us are seemingly hopeless at football, then your mind does wander into the realms of murkiness. Because he's paying them 40 grand a week and its not for playing football......

perhaps he slips it up the arse on one of his little latin american signings at half time in front of the squad..............this might just explain our poor second half performances...............

this is not just a case of Bruce bashing (seems like he's the one doing the bashing) but an absolutely 100% professional look at what might be going wrong at our club.....

Jersey…………. your thoughts mate………. You being that way inclined and all………
