there's quite an amusing trend on twitter at the moment called "football as a kid"

for those of you that don't use/have twitter, go to www.twitter.com and in the search bar at the top, type #FootballAsAKid

there's some cracking ones on there. here's a few...

"#FootballAsAKid debating whether it was post and in, or post and out, when the fact is the ball rolled over a jumper." <laugh>
"#FootballAsAKid Having a game with your mates and a randomer comes over 'alright mate can I play?' 'Dunno mate its not my ball' " <laugh>
"#FootballAsAKid the tense moment when your ball is about to be run over" <laugh>
"#FootballAsAKid using your leg to scrape the ball out from under the car" <laugh>

for those of you who don't have or want to use twitter, perhaps there's more you can remember.

didn't feel the need to create a thread for this, it's pretty pointless, but my small mind found it quite amusing.

Can't see a search bar at the top, maybe you only get that if you're signed in.

The 'Dunno mate its not my ball' took me back and using your leg to get a ball out from under a car too. Getting the ball back from the scary neighbour was always a big issue and debating whether the keeper saving the ball before it got knocked over meant he had to get it. I remember once I launched myself over a fence after a ball without having a peak over first and found there were some old dears having a tea party in the garden. They gave the ball to charity as punishment for my trespassing :(

ahhh, you'll probably need to be signed in then! n/m.

haha, getting the ball from the scary neighbour was horrible. i'm guessing most groups of kids had the "if you kick it, you go and get it" rule? well, I found myself knocking on a lot of doors.... (says a lot about my shooting ability, eh?!)

haha the "imaginary bar". - "no way mate, I parried that over. that was easily a save". then some geek in the group got the ball picked it up and tried to reinact the situation like it was a replay and come to a conclusion. "mate, your hand was about here when you saved it". "no it wasn't, if that was a real goal, it would have easily been in". <doh>

I also remember those yellow or red sponge footballs! they were the only footballs that weren't banned at my primary school on the playground, so we had to make do. a total and utter nightmare when it rained though!! school trousers got soaked from the spray! However, it was amusing launching it at the classroom windows!

I remember having a kickabout with one of those sponge balls after it rained, and the ball was utterly soaked and barely moved when you kicked it, so someone gave it a full-on punt and it whacked someone in the face, which both hurt and left them with a face covered in muddy water.

I also remember, if there were two or three seperate games being played on the grass during the summer, quite often the game I was playing would be interrupted by one of the flash bastards from another game wandering in when performing one of those dribbles where they just run over the horizon with the ball in some dribble that nobody is bothering to pick them up on. They'd often be clattered not by somone on the other side, but someone in the other game.

As for arguments about if the goal was kosher or not, nobody ever argued with my patented "in off the scrotum" move - make to nutmeg the keeper, miss both their legs *ahem* and dink the ball into the empty net as they're lying on the ground in pain for obvious reasons.

Gus Poyet in his post match interview after the Brighton v Leeds game, confirming once again what a complete berk he is. Probably the biggest idiot ever to have been employed by THFC.

Seeing some of the football as a kid memories brought back some for me, thanks! Unfortunately I feel as if this won't be the case for the next generation, whilst training to be a teacher (now abandoned in case anyone wants to know) I spent some time in a junior school, and when I asked some of the kids what they were doing after school, most replies were "playing FIFA" or even worse "playing Call of Duty or GTA". No mention of having a kickabout at the park. And people wonder why there's a supposed obesity crisis in kids, they're being introduced to video game as the like far too early - before they've ha the chance to actually be a kid.

Player of the Month went to Mata, Manager of the Month went to Fergie, Racist of the Month went to That Chelsea Fan and Clattenburg, who was unfortunate to finish runner up in the other 3 awards picked up the booby prize of unwanted backing from Neil Warnock.

    hahaha, some people honestly...

just seen some rumours on twitter that apparently Modric is unhappy at RM and discussions are taking place to potentially bring him back. apparently RM have paid bugger all of the fee and there's a clause in the contract. from "a very good source" according to this particular person.

i know we're desperate at the moment, you do have to laugh sometimes.

(though saying that, of all the rumours I have ever seen, I pray that this is true. I'm so pissed off with the little rat, but my god do we need him. can u imagine if this happened? WHAT A STORY! There'd definitely be some pantomime boo's, but really everyone would be over the moon.)

    ahhh... had to share that.

Thats right King he did, they'll find out soon enough how rare a shot on target from outside the box is!, it was a good goal though he's played 90mins last few games too, looks like Khedira has made way.
