Rodgers won't have time to answer questions like that. He'll be too busy making excuses.

The media want the views of a high profile manager to spin the story out a bit more, and there are none more high profile.

As for sticking his nose in, are you really surprised? One of the most skilled users of the media in football history, and you can't believe he publicly backed the referee over one of his biggest rivals for the title this year? Shock horror!

You mean on the balance of two Chelsea players, neither of whom were being spoken to by the ref, and who it now appears may have misheard his accent, versus the views of the ref, all three assistants, and both players who were apparently the target of the insults and yet heard nothing. Smacks of Kuyt telling the ref what Evra apparently said to his face....

Of course it has, football has changed massively in the last 25 years. As you know all too well, it's not that hard to grasp is it?

Football has changed hugely, for the worse, in the last five years let alone twenty five.

Ray Wilkins is quoted as saying that Ramires understands very little English. It doesn't look good for Chavski.

I didn't know that, this thread is about Fergie and makes no reference to Wenger. With this in mind... What's Wenger doing getting involved????

[h=1]Arsene Wenger criticises Chelsea for going public over Mark Clattenburg allegations[/h]

[h=3]Arsenal manager says London rivals have 'little proof' that referee abused Mikel during Sunday's match

Seem to remember another case where there was no evidence except a players word that the incident happened.

He was asked a question by the press/media and unlike a plotician he answered it staight <ok>

Nothing controversial in that at all. It was a match that United played in after all. A referee being accused of racial comments is a big deal and unprecedented. It is very unlikely but if proven he should be kicked out of football.

It is one thing players abusing each other but for the referee (who is supposed to be there to maintain order and propriety) to do it is quite another. He gave his opinion as requested so nothing wrong there <ok>

I think the difference between the Suarez and Clattenburg cases is that Suarez admitted to using a racist slur <ok>

Well then, it should be pretty easy case to solve then. I know its not recorded (why we might ask, since it would act as concrete evidence of conversations with players or refs when they do wrong : things like what was said when in the Evra case for instance (timings wise, I know the "conversation" wouldn't have been picked up)

But at least 3 officials would have heard the conversations so either:

it happened, they'll confirm it & Clattenburg will get sanctioned.

It didn't happen, the other 3 support C's version of events & the FA punish the two players in question for false accusations.

It did happen, the other 3 defend Clattenburg anyway & yet more players walk away believing the FA to be useless at best, hypocritical when it comes to their own at worst.

So you seriously think it's worse now than it was for Batson, Barnes, Cunningham, Regis etc, come on Ruff players, refs and supporters used to get away with blatant racism sad to say.

Modern day black footballers have a voice in the game, back then the lads had to swallow it and keep shtum.

    Well yes, exactly.

His fellow officials have already confirmed that they never heard the words spoken so there you go.

No, it's because those two managers were not involved in the game in question.

Because journalists know that when Fergie speaks people listen. Some may not like what he has to say, regardless of what it is he says, but almost everyone has an opinion. Would BBF have put his drink down long enough to start this thread if Wenger had commented on the incident?

Funnily enough Wenger did comment on the incident but BBF wasn't interested in what he had to say!

No, I do not believe he would do that, but it is not beyond the realms of possibility. Here you have an ambassador, possibly the most influential figure in todays game with his head in the sand saying 'It’s unthinkable' is that not what Kick it Out and the players who chose not to wear the shirts are trying to say, that even in todays game, a blind eye is turned to racism?

Did Ferguson not chastise Dalglish for not believing Suarez would make such comments? Did he not comment that Dalglish lost his job because he supported the view that Suarez did not make those comments? Yet here he is refusing to expect that there could be any possibility that Clattenburg, a man he hardly knows (?) could make such a comment.

No, it's different. That's all he says.

if you want to show the whole passage where he says racism is worse now than it was 25 years ago then go ahead and we can freely discuss that.

You've quoted something completely inoffensive, I just don't get your point mate.

  18. Obviously Man Utd was involved in the game in question but the situation still has nothing to do with them.

    to be fair, I couldn't give a **** either way <ok>

My point is that Wenger is saying there's 'little proof', the FA charged Suarez based on another players evidence with no proof.

And going by that precedent they should do the same with Clattenburg.
