Well Reading have never beaten Arsenal so history was against them before a ball was kicked. But Arsenal's youngsters didn't give up did they? Now I'm not defending Arsenal and I'm not happy that they're through,I'm defending my statement. Supposing we were 4-0 down and came back to win wouldn't that send a message to the other teams? Well ok lads, the statement pi$$ed you off.....my apologies.
it didn't piss me off, i'm saying, what they did was against a championship team basically, against us for instance they, couldn't and wouldn't do it
How is thrashing relegation fodder a message to Arsenal's rivals? Arsenal are as loose at the back as a rent boy's a-hole
That may be human nature, but in some ways is an argument for playing to the letter of the law instead of the ref interpreting it. You could also argue that is what happened to WHam a few years back with their punishment for the ineligible players? I thought at the time they didn't get points deduction because it was assumed they would go down anyway as at the time they were so far adrift, so they got a fine instead that looked ridiculous when they actually stayed up (thanks almost to the single handed contribution of Tevez, one of those very players!) Also even when a game merits 5 minutes of injury time the ref very rarely plays it. Dunno why I think it just happens that way, so they might be considered lucky even if the time was owed. Refs also often don't add time for time that should be added when injury time starts. I suppose I'm saying that if the game is posted 4 minutes extra it's normally unlikely you'll get 5.
Ok Sir Red to answer your question I think it's a good achievement to come back from 4-0 down whoever is playing who. 4 goals adrift and to come back and win to me shows a battling quality. But ok lads ok.
Agree. Not only was a comeback possible it was also predictable. Against any other PL team bar Southampton, that comeback wouldn't have been possible
From the BBC gossip page... Chelsea are hoping their fans can "scare the life out of" Manchester United when the two sides meet in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday after asking them to wear frightening fancy dress. Surely coming dressed as Chelsea fans is terrifying enough?
Exactly, and Nolan missed a good chance to make it 5-4. That was a comeback which nobody would have dared dream possible. I read hilarious stuff from Arsenal fans on Twitter claiming it was a better comeback than Liverpool in Istanbul or Chelsea v Barcelona. Arsenal salvaged what would have been an otherwise humiliation so credit to them but let's not pretend they are knights in shining armour. For Reading to be able to put 5 past ANY Arsenal side is an embarrassment for Steve Bould and Wenger
It will be interesting tonight if Rodgers' old team beats his new one. This cup produces many surprises and this might be another. As for Chelsea v Man U,I haven't a clue who will win this one.
On the Chelsea board, they are saying the racist accusation against Clattenberg is that he call Mikel, mico - Spanish for monkey. Anyone see the flaw in that accusation? Why would he say it in Spanish for one thing, and there is no way he could have been saying Mikel is there? Don't know if the poster is correct in saying this is the accusation, but if he is Chelsea will be opening a major can of worms if the charge is so flimsy!
That's the worst and most illogical accusation that I've ever heard! "No, he didn't use your name, he called you a monkey. In Spanish. Despite the fact that neither of you are Spanish or speak Spanish. What a racist bastard!"
What do Chelsea players call John Obi Mikel...'Mick-o' ?? Footballers love to give nicknames like this. If Clot has invented the nickname to get the players attention, and it sounds like a Spanish word I really cannot believe Chelsea lawyers would proceed with that.
"Mico" sounds a lot like "Mikel" in a Geordie accent. Clattenberg is from County Durham. It could be worse, he could be getting the full Anders Frisk treatment from Chelsea's charming fans.
Of the two, I'd say Mata looks more like a cheeky little monkey! nowt wrong with calling him a mico is there? less insulting than Spanish twat you'd think.
You have to love Chelski; Trying hard to get back to their rightful position this season: As the Premiership's most hated team. First the Terry fiasco and now this. Does anybody really believe that Clattenberg racially abused Mikel? Or that the players on both sides were not swearing at Clattenberg the whole game? This is all about the fact that they did not get the rub of the green against the Mancs. Something they do more often than not. What it will do is formalise the relationship between refs and and make managing a game that little bit harder. Nice one.
I'm no Clattenberg fan, but if they took the same approach to officiating as they do in Rugby, a lot of this nonsense would stop. Use any kind of foul language to a referee in RFU, and you're off - simple as. Harassment of officials is simply not tolerated, either.
Classy defending there from Sideshow Bob. About to say Man Utd look really poor. Then that happens. Champions League? You're Having a laugh!
