Attack-minded Rose compared to Gray
Former striker Martin Smith impressed with loanee.

Ex-Sunderland frontman Martin Smith says Danny Rose's playing style reminds him of former team-mate Michael Gray.
Smith and Gray were colleagues at both Roker Park and the Stadium of Light before the former joined Sheffield United in 1999.
Gray made regular attacking raids his trademark during more than a decade on Wearside, during which time he won England recognition.
Fast forward and it's now Rose filling the role after Martin O'Neill brought him in on loan from Spurs on the final day of the summer transfer window.
The Londoner has made a fine start to life on Wearside and Smith says he certainly fits the Gray mould.
"Danny's done really well and has looked lively," said the former striker, who made 145 appearances for the Black Cats.
"As well as his defensive work he has provided an attacking threat.
"He reminds me of Micky in a way - he always wants the ball and gives good service going forward.
"He seems like a good all-round athlete who gets up and down the pitch."
Smith continued: "Danny will probably say he's more of a left midfielder so he's got that ability to get forward.
"He's brought that into his game a lot more over the last few weeks and has been combining well with James McClean.

Mmmmm, Smithy's got that not quite right Rog.

Combining well with james McClean, where?

Drop Macca & get Rose on LW.

He's not from London either, he's from Doncaster.

Not a lot between them to be honest although Micky gets it on his defensive capabilities, both very good going forward and Micky couldn't half swing a good cross in. All we need from Rose is a couple of goals this weekend and he could shade it.

I was hoping Jimmy would be rested for Stoke but because Trappa is watching the game ive heard that Macca will be playing, if so i hope he pulls his socks up

Remember Mickey Gray's screamer in the 3-0 win against Birmingham at Roker Park? Rose has a shot on him too, so a few like that wouldn't hurt :)

I like rosé I only hope it's not going to cost us a kings ransom to buy him <bubbly>

The better he plays, the more he will cost us, just like Hutton. I would hope that MON has seen enough of the lad to make it happen in January, the lad's got that bit of quality about him and with Bardo looking likely to return soon i think the defense is looking solid now.

I thought he was your best player in the derby and thought he was amazingly composed. Didn't lose his temper once and Ben Arfa was all over him (although I think the shirt pulling was 'cause of defensive inadequacies as opposed to maliciousness)

He kept Benni very quiet imo Jesus.

I'd put the kid on LW tbh with you.

Sadly, he ain't our player yet. Unless we put in a bid pronto, Spurs will just ask silly money when we eventually do.
