Interesting how everyone is quick to condemn Hillsborough, now, but they still have no problems using the supposed social pathology of the city that made the media coverage of the disaster so easy to accept.

Yet still nobody damns the FA for selecting a ground that hadn't had a valid safety certificate since 1979.

This remarkably important detail, which also came up in the initial Taylor Report, always gets swept under the carpet.

Behavioural issues surrounding some followers of Liverpool football club have been very well documented for many years both before and after Hillsborough. Not the only club or city to have a truly scummy element (hard to think of anywhere that is lilly white as you're now trying to claim) but it is there whether you like it or not

  8. I've got to say, that it is very difficult for normal people to understand the born-and-bred Mouser, at times. Bread was okay, because it was people pretending to be Mousers (or if they were Mousers, they had had the worst of the accent beaten out of them during childhood).

  9. I was interested to read this article, ahead of the Mouser derby, at Goodison Park:-

"The question on every punter's lips is "can Liverpool actually beat 'top 4' Everton, when they travel to Goodison Park on Sunday, to take on their superior neighbours?" The sensible money appears to be on Everton taking an easy three points, following a disastrous start to the season by former Championship manager and big-screen cowboy, Roy Rogers.

"We're not looking convincing, at the moment," said Rodgers. "I have to remind most of our players that we are actually a football team, but they never seem to listen to me."

'Pool have been on the butt-end of a fair few spankings already this season, and frustrations are running high, as is evident from the tactics employed by the manager.

"Of course, I'd rather not have to resort to diving, but if it gets us a lucky goal, I'm happy. Quite frankly, I'd take everything I can get, at the moment, even if that does mean conning the ref."

The club has suffered its worst start to a league campaign since 1652, when Sir Shankley Holmes was hanged from a post in the market square by a lynch mob. Rodgers is hopeful that the Merseyside derby will lift his team. "Every Mouser on the planet knows that, these days, the Merseyside derby is our FA Cup, and when we lose to Everton it feels like the world is caving in on us. I'm not a Mouser, but even I can understand what it means to win the derby, which comes in pretty handy, given that I'm the club's manager."

When asked if we would continue to encourage his players to dive, he smiled and winked.

"What can I say? If, as is expected, we are overrun by a tide of blue, on Sunday, I'll be looking for anything to give us that little bit of an edge. I'm not saying that I will tell the players to dive, but don't expect me to have seen anything if Stevie or Suarie take a little unassisted tumble."

The match is due to be played on Sunday, 29 October.

    Unbelievable!

The Bond film for the mousers is Dr No-body can ever claim to be better than us in terms of on the pitch, fans, tea ladies etc. regardless of the strength of evidence to the contrary.

  19. I know. I thought the article was very fair and balanced in tone. Quite surprised at Rodgers' candid admissions, though.

All I have to say to this is Gareth Bale.

The brass neck of Spurs to go on about Suarez diving when one of your lot has been just as bad lately.
