So who was sniffing around Skrtl and Agger this summer? Oh yeah, only the current league champions. Both are better players than Lescott, who plays regularly for City.
Lucas would walk into any top 4 side, when fit.
Who was Sahin supposedly going to sign for? That's right, your more illustrious neighbours from down the road.

So if you consider Man City and Arsenal not to be contenders for the top 4, you are seriously deluded.<doh>
 
Just because City and Arsenal were in for two of your players does not mean either that (a) either of those clubs would actually have concluded any deal ("sniffing around" is not the same as making definite offers with a real intention to buy), or (b) had either club either of those players that player would have walked straight into the first XI. Yeah, Sahin might just have improved the Gooners, but you're not seriously suggesting that City don't already have at least two better options than either Skrtel or Agger!

It's not me who's deluded, I can very much assure you.

Players' agents spend half the summer linking them to other clubs whether enquiries have been made or not. I wouldn't be drawing cocnlusions on a club's transfer targets based on what I've read in the tabloids. We were linked with Del Pierro and Inzaghi FFS
