You took my first post far too seriously Bib and I wasn't gonnae sit here and have someone tell me one group of fannies is worse than the other. I know fine well the Billy Boys is in reference to Fullerton and his ilk, I'm not denying that. What I am saying though is there is absolutely no difference in terms of shameful and irresponsible behaviour between most groups of that time especially the Billy Boys and the Conks. I don't know german culture or what they sing as I don't speak german Bib. What I would say though is it wouldn't surprise me if neo-nazi groups based in germany did sing about the Wehrmacht, in fact I'm fairly sure there are plenty of songs about the SS so ones about the general army wouldn't surprise me in the least. What I am saying is that to say one group was any worse than the other is just a complete and utter waste of time reserved for the likes of Rebel and BH.
I get that, man and you're right Which is why: a) Cancercunt started this thread and b) I regret commenting on it Songs at football will always be about one group being better or worse than another group and it's a laugh on here to point and laugh at each other but, you're totally right, this is a recipe for a 10 page reasonless dingdong of rhetoric. It's up to you(s) - if Rangers fans start singing this song, regardless of word changes, you're going to get in trouble. Now, there's getting in trouble on the basis of standing up for your beliefs (which may or may not be worth it depending on your viewpoint) and there's getting in trouble for the sake of expressing something (that you might not even agree with) out of defiance. Personally, I don't think it's worth it - much like it's not worth falling out with your mates over football (if that's unavoidable cos your mate that supports another team is a ****, then maybe he shouldn't be your mate).
Does ****ing yourself make you gay? That's one for philosophers and others considerably smarter than you MD. ps In a round about way I was actually on your side but if you're going to get all prissy about it...
"rocked stadiums and made struck fear into the hearts of opposing players." suuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrreeeeeeeee it did
i like md - he is from perth and that makes him fine by me but i LOVE medro he is my freckley fantasy
I know where the term originated from as does MD but do you think when we sang it we were referencing Fullertons group? Or just using it to reference Rangers fans in general?
I think you sing it as a mating call to attract feral young red headed males - i cant speak for other rangers fans
Exactly, it was sung by Rangers fans calling themselves Billy Boys, nothing to do with Fullerton and his group.
